The Instructor is responsible for the training and development of Learners in accordance with the agreed local training programme specifications, together with the day-to-day running and maintenance of all aspects of the training programmes.

  • Provide systematic training according to specified curricula, with responsibility for the instruction of a number of modules for QQI Levels 3-5 certification.
  • Facilitate participants in developing the knowledge, skills, and confidence necessary to secure progression outcomes.
  • Meet key performance indicators in relation to learner placement and progression and achievement of certification targets.
  • Assist Learners in reviewing previous experiences and exploring future goals, using a range of occupational interest, educational and problem-solving techniques.
  • Collaborate on the development of Individual Action Plans/Person Centred Plans to support each Learner's progression.
  • Evaluate the vocational rehabilitation needs of each Learner and produce a profile of those and support work experience placements.
  • Instil by example and direct training, proper work attitudes and work behaviours.
  • Provide learners with adequate and constructive feedback about their progress.
  • Maintain all records in accordance with both internal and external quality standards and produce reports on curricula and innovative interventions.
  • Apply all standards and procedures relating to Health and Safety Acts and maintain the highest levels of safety.
  • Report to the Manager on all matters pertaining to the programme and inform the Manager in a timely manner should problems arise.
  • Perform the role of Instructor under the guidance of the management of National Learning Network and co-operate fully with the centre staff and multi-disciplinary teams and relevant stakeholders.
  • Carry out any other duties and responsibilities within the general requirements of the job specification as may be required from time to time.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of activities of National Learning Network and actively participate in and promote a culture of excellence throughout all.

The Instructor will take part in all aspects of co-ordination and facilitation in respect of National Learning Network at its Seward House centre delivering QQI Level 3 and/or 4 modules.

Requirements:

  • Third-level qualification, preferably within the Education/Training or Social Sciences sector.
  • A relevant pedagogical/training qualification - Train the Trainer QQI Level 6 as a minimum.
  • A number of years relevant occupational experience of working with Learners in educational, guidance and/or developmental contexts.
  • Experience in working in a sports/fitness related area an advantage.
  • Experience in QQI certification and accreditation processes.
  • Excellent facilitation and presentation skills together with excellent interpersonal, communication and organisational skills.
  • Experience in working on own initiative with a professional and confident approach.
  • An ability to motivate learners and to maintain networks with stakeholders and local communities.
  • Own means of transport and a full clean driving licence.
