Job Description

My Dublin City Centre based client is recruiting for a Security Engineer for a daily rate contract. Working on a flexible hybrid model. The Security Engineer specializing in security, will be responsible for maintaining and enhancing the security posture of our Windows-based server environments. You will work closely with the IT infrastructure team to design, implement, and support secure and robust Wintel solutions. Job Responsibilities Install, configure, and maintain Windows Server systems and associated software with a focus on security. Implement and manage security measures for the protection of systems, networks, and information. Analyze and strengthen existing server configurations to ensure they are optimized for security and performance. Coordinate with cybersecurity teams to conduct regular system audits, vulnerability assessments, and penetration testing. Assist in the development and enforcement of security policies and procedures. Respond to and resolve security incidents and issues. Manage Active Directory, Group Policy, and other essential services with an emphasis on security configurations. Provide expertise in cloud technologies and virtualization platforms like VMware or Hyper-V, ensuring secure deployments and operations. Document system configurations, updates, and changes in compliance with regulatory compliance requirements. Train and mentor team members on security best practices and technologies. Experience Required Minimum of 5 years of experience in a Wintel infrastructure role with a strong focus on security. Microsoft Intune & Microsoft Defender Proven experience with Windows Server administration and troubleshooting. Advanced knowledge of network security protocols, firewalls, antivirus, and IDS/IPS systems. Experience with security frameworks (e.g., ISO 27001, NIST, CIS Benchmarks). Proficiency in scripting languages (e.g., PowerShell, VBScript) for automation. Familiarity with compliance and regulatory requirements (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA). Certifications such as CISSP, CompTIA Security+, or Microsoft Certified: Security, Compliance, and Identity Fundamentals are highly preferred. Educational Requirements Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
