Job Description

My Dublin City Centre based client is recruiting for an IT Security Engineer to join the team on a permanent basis. This role will be working on a hybrid model. Job Responsibilities Security System Analysis: Continuously monitor and enhance the organizations security infrastructure, ensuring alignment with recognized industry standards such as NIST, NIS2, ISO27001, and GDPR. Policy and Procedure Maintenance: Work closely with the IT Security Manager and IT Security Administrator to maintain and update all IT Security policies and procedures, ensuring the organization adheres to top-tier security practices and standards. Incident Management: Act as a member of the IT Security Incident Management Team, providing critical analysis and information on security incidents and alerts. Review threat notifications from third-party providers and collaborate with the Security Team to formulate optimal responses. Security Integration: Assist in partnering with service providers and internal teams to embed security into the design of technology projects managed by the IT department. Oversight of Security Testing: Coordinate and oversee code reviews, vulnerability assessments, and penetration tests with external service providers as necessary. Security Platform Management: Play a key role in the operational management of essential security platforms, including Palo Alto, Microsoft Sentinel, Microsoft Defender, Microsoft Intune, Purview, and Microsoft Entra. Report Review: Regularly review security reports, identify unusual activity, and escalate any issues for further investigation by the team. Experience Required Proven experience as a Level 2 IT professional within an enterprise environment, with some exposure to IT security practices, and a working knowledge of SIEM solutions and vulnerability management tools. Hands-on experience in a Microsoft enterprise environment. Ability to analyze security alerts, determine root causes, communicate findings effectively to relevant stakeholders, and distinguish between false positives and genuine threats. Strong documentation skills, appropriate for a regulated and audited environment. Critical problem-solving skills, particularly in securing infrastructure and bespoke applications. Demonstrated ability to prioritize tasks efficiently and work autonomously. Experience thriving in a fast-paced environment, with the ability to process and act on large volumes of information quickly. Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to engage both technical and non-technical audiences. Essential and Desirable Skills Professional certifications such as CompTIA Security+, CYSA+, Microsoft Certified Security (e.g., SC900), and knowledge of security frameworks such as NIST, NIS2, and ISO 27001. Experience working with third-party IT service providers. Familiarity with incident management and response strategies Educational Requirements A bachelors degree in a relevant field such as Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or Information Technology.
