Job Description

The Junior Quantity Surveyor (Electrical) will assist in the preparation of cost estimates, budgets, and contract administration for electrical projects. The ideal candidate will have a background in quantity surveying with a focus on electrical systems, strong analytical skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with project teams. Key Responsibilities: * Assist in preparing detailed cost estimates for electrical projects, including labour, materials, and equipment. * Support the preparation of tender documents, contracts, budgets, bills of quantities, and other documentation. * Review and analyse blueprints, specifications, and proposals to assist in the preparation of accurate cost estimates. * Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure accurate and competitive pricing. * Assist in obtaining and evaluating supplier and subcontractor quotes to ensure the best value and quality. * Monitor project progress, including costs and budget compliance, and report discrepancies to senior management. * Assist in the preparation of project valuations, progress claims, and final accounts. * Conduct site visits and assessments to gather necessary data for accurate cost estimation and reporting. * Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry trends, materials, and construction methods. * Support the senior quantity surveyor in the development and maintenance of estimation standards, processes, and templates. * Assist in resolving any cost-related issues or disputes that arise during the project lifecycle. Qualifications: * Bachelor’s degree in Quantity Surveying, Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field preferred. * 1-3 years of experience in quantity surveying, preferably with a focus on electrical projects. * Basic knowledge of electrical systems, materials, and industry standards. * Proficiency in estimation and quantity surveying software (e.g., CostX, Bluebeam) and Microsoft Office Suite. * Strong analytical and mathematical skills with a high level of attention to detail. * Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. * Ability to work collaboratively with project teams and stakeholders. * Strong organizational and time-management skills. * Knowledge of local, state, and federal electrical codes and regulations is a plus. * Willingness to learn and adapt to new challenges and responsibilities. * Professional certifications (e.g., RICS, CIOB) are a plus.
