Japanese Language Specialist - Collaborative Role for High-Quality Products and Marketing Assets
We are seeking a skilled Japanese Language Specialist to support the localisation of high-quality products and marketing assets for Japanese-speaking audiences.
This role involves close collaboration with the Language Specialist Manager, Project Management team, and Localisation QA team to ensure the delivery of high-quality translations and marketing assets.
Key Responsibilities:
- Translate and proofread video game-related texts from English to Japanese.
- Review and approve assets before publication.
- Partner with external agencies to decide translation style and provide support for high-quality translation delivery.
- Collaborate with Project Management to develop and implement plans for quality delivery of Japanese language games and out-of-game assets.
- Work with QA Department during quality assurance process and provide translation and linguistic expertise.
- Communicate risks that could impact product quality and delivery schedule.
- Create and maintain game translation assets, including Glossary/Termbase, Translation Memories, and style guides.
Requirements:
- Previous experience as a Japanese Translator, preferably in the video game industry.
- Experience using industry CAT tools, such as memo Q and Smartling, and automation tools.
- Fluent Japanese verbal and written skills.
- Creative writing skills, with a distinct advantage.
- Business fluency in English verbal and written skills.
- Demonstrated creative translation expertise and experience in subtitling/voice script localisation and adaptation.
- Specialisation in gaming genres, particularly shooters (FPS).
- Knowledge of the video game and localisation industries.
- Understanding of local and market cultural sensitivities.
