Learning & Development Team Lead Role


Our client, a large corporate organisation with a well-defined and high-functioning L&D department, requires an L&D team lead to join their team, covering an 18-month contract.

The role offers an opportunity to work with a well-oiled team and with the budget to ensure success. This role offers hybrid working (3 days from home).

The Role:

  • Oversee the design and delivery of structured development programmes (called 'Pathways') for our lawyers and business service professionals in line with our values of innovation, entrepreneurship, and diversity.
  • Oversee the successful delivery of leadership programmes such as newly promoted and lateral hire partner/leadership programmes.
  • Create and collate job aids, tool kits, checklists, and 'how to' guides to support employees in their flow of work.
  • Manage the relationship, quality, and return on investment of programmes delivered in partnership with external training providers.
  • Design and facilitate learning events and campaigns aimed at the full firm or specific cohorts to further enhance our culture, strengthen connection and engagement, and facilitate peer learning.
  • Support our internal faculty of presenters to successfully share their knowledge, experience, and skills.
  • Drive our culture of mentoring, particularly through the promotion and engagement with the firm's mentoring platform.
  • Work proactively with the Director of L&D and the Training manager on strategic firmwide projects, recommending innovative ways to meet business needs.
  • Project manage the delivery of learning and development solutions/campaigns in line with budget and timelines.
  • Drive the success and evaluation of structured development pathways, creating reports based on quantitative and qualitative data, and making recommendations for changes as appropriate.
  • Identify new and innovative ways to deliver learning and development pathways to enhance the overall impact of the programmes.
  • Work effectively with members of the business and members of the learning and development team to anticipate and identify training needs, and plan the training calendar based on those needs.
  • Identify new providers as required to meet business needs.
  • Leverage the firm's learning management system to offer individualised, selfpaced, and selfdriven development.
  • Design all learning and development programmes to ensure alignment with the firm's learning and development strategy.

The Candidate:

  • Experience in the professional services sector is ideal (Banking/Finance/Accountancy/Law).
  • Experience designing new initiatives and tailoring content to the audience is a requirement.
  • You thrive in a fastpaced diverse environment, can work both as a team member and independently.
  • You are energised by finding new and improved ways to deliver excellence.
  • You are a clear and confident verbal communicator, with an ability to write concisely.
  • You enjoy building and maintaining connections with people, including new people and those with different levels of experience.
  • You are proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel for data analysis and PowerPoint for visual presentation of information.
  • Experience managing direct reports is a plus.
