Objective of this post: The principal objective of the post is to: Contribute to and participate in the design, development and delivery of the School's educational programmes at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels, including, but not limited to, the BSc 'Advanced Therapeutic Technologies'. Provide a wide range of skills and expertise in areas including, but not limited to, applications of Regulatory Affairs in different healthcare systems and industry contexts. Maintain and develop the School's relationship with clinical and industrial teaching/placements sites (as appropriate). This is a temporary role - the successful candidate will be supported to engage in research aligned with their research interests and experience. Specific Responsibilities include: Teaching Preparation, delivery and assessment in the broad curricular areas of Regulatory Affairs in the context of health and disease, biomolecular sciences and biotherapeutics ensuring at all times that teaching material is innovative, up-to-date and in line with international best practice, on our undergraduate and post-graduate programmes, as required. Demonstrate a student-centred approach to all duties to ensure optimal educational outcomes. Lead and/or advise on modules within various programmes. Participate in cross-functional teams to design and deliver academic programmes. Contribute to the quality assurance/quality improvement and accreditation of all programmes delivered in the School. Participate in the delivery of our teaching and learning strategy including the effective use of technology-enhanced learning. Research Engage in research and knowledge transfer activities in the area of Regulatory Affairs/Sciences, aligned to designated areas of priority for the School and the University. These areas of priority are within the broad themes of: Biomaterials, Medical devices and Pharmaceutical Sciences; Cancer; Vascular Biology and Cardiology, Population Health & Health Services, Surgical Science and Practice, Neurological & Psychiatric Disorders, Respiratory and Critical Care. Contribute to and support ongoing academic and industry-based research collaborations within the School, nationally and internationally. Supervise undergraduate and postgraduate research projects across the School of Pharmacy and Biomolecular Sciences as required Contribute to School thesis review committees as required. Service Comply with statutory legislation and departmental rules and requirements in furtherance of your own, staff and student welfare and safety. Competent discharge of academic administrative duties and engagement across the School and Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, in aspects such as attendance at examination boards, team meetings, interviewing prospective students, attendance at Open Days, outreach events etc. Promote the best interests of RCSI at all times, enhancing the School's reputation Support students through student affairs initiatives, such as personal tutoring/mentoring, and other initiatives, as appropriate. Foster and supporting links with national and international academic partners. Perform such other duties as may be required from time to time. Person Specification Essential: Has a PhD degree or equivalent in Regulatory Sciences/Pharmaceutics or an aligned discipline. Has significant industry acquired experience and expertise in the area of regulatory science. Ideally has previous experience of education in an academic environment. Has excellent communication skills. Can function effectively within a team. Requires minimum direction to effectively deliver on assigned functions, and demonstrates a positive, student -centred and solution focused approach to addressing challenges and ambiguity. Has flexibility to work irregular hours on occasion. Has flexibility for international travel on occasion, if required.
