The Senior Solicitor will be an integral part of the legal services team, providing support and guidance across a variety of legal matters. Role Description The Senior Solicitor will be responsible for providing expert legal advice on a wide range of complex matters, including construction, contractual, procurement, and regulatory issues, particularly in relation to large infrastructure projects. This role will involve significant collaboration with multi-disciplinary teams and external stakeholders, ensuring the successful delivery of key initiatives. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in managing high workloads, navigating complex legal fields, and delivering commercially sound legal advice. This position is well-suited to a legal professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment and enjoys working closely with the business to manage legal risks and implement solutions. Main Responsibilities Provide legal advice on construction, commercial contracts, procurement, and regulatory matters related to large infrastructure projects, particularly in the energy sector. Collaborate with business teams to identify and mitigate legal risks, ensuring that legal advice is integrated effectively into project planning and execution. Offer commercially focused and solutions-driven legal support, delivering high-quality advice in clear, accessible language. Manage relationships with external legal advisors, ensuring value for money and minimizing legal risks and costs. Mentor and support junior legal team members, contributing to the development of the wider legal function. Participate in legal team initiatives, presenting on legal matters in a targeted, commercially relevant manner. Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders. Knowledge, Skills, and Experience Essential: Qualified solicitor with at least 4+ years post-qualification experience in construction and infrastructure projects, preferably within the energy or regulated sectors. Proven ability to manage a high workload across diverse legal areas, including construction, infrastructure, procurement, commercial contracts, and regulatory matters. Strong commercial awareness and the ability to provide clear, concise legal advice that aligns with business objectives. Exceptional attention to detail, with a strong commercial focus and business acumen. Team player with strong interpersonal and communication skills, able to collaborate effectively across disciplines. Highly organised, results-driven, and capable of managing multiple priorities and meeting deadlines consistently. Ability to work independently and take initiative in a fast-paced environment. Desirable: Experience working in the energy or infrastructure sectors, or within a regulated environment. Experience working in large, complex organisations with multi-disciplinary teams. Knowledge of the energy industry and an interest in issues related to climate change and energy.
