Seeking a Payments Compliance Counsel to join the Global Legal Compliance team, providing strategic guidance on payments-related matters and ensuring a consistent global approach.

The Role
The Payments Compliance Counsel will be part of the Global Legal Compliance Payments team, reporting into the Global Legal Compliance organization. Key responsibilities include:
- Counsel and partner with product teams on payment issues, such as money transfer services, e-money, and payment tokens.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders on product development and commercialization of global payment projects and services.
- Advise on payment issues in connection with the launch of features, projects, or programs or payment solutions.
- Assist and provide guidance to the global payments business on payments licensing and dealing with regulators.
- Help build scalable and effective processes for legal review and launch of new payment solutions, features, and products.
- Stay up-to-date as a subject matter expert on financial service regulations, including AML, money transmission, virtual currency, and KYB in the EU/UK region.
- Participate as a proactive business partner for senior managers and build a trusted advisor relationship with various businesses within the group.
Requirements
Candidates should possess:
- A qualified law degree and experience in the fintech/payments industry dealing with money service business compliance requirements and anti-money laundering rules.
- Global or regional exposure and experience gained in the Fintech startup space or creator economy industry is highly advantageous.
- Knowledge and experience with payment product compliance advisory and review, as well as managing global or regional compliance.
- Ability to understand and interpret regulations and regulatory guidance, and to simplify complex themes into understandable communications.
