Role Description The Solicitor will primarily provide legal advice on a wide range of complex land and property-related issues, particularly those associated with infrastructure projects. Additionally, the Solicitor will offer legal support on commercial and regulatory matters as needed. This role requires a highly collaborative approach, working closely with multi-disciplinary teams and external stakeholders to deliver on business objectives. This role is ideal for a solicitor who enjoys working closely with a business in a dynamic environment and handling diverse legal matters. The successful candidate will join a small, high-performing in-house legal team, offering valuable support on land and property matters, while also contributing to commercial and regulatory work. Main Responsibilities Provide legal advice on land and property aspects of key infrastructure projects, including advising on landowner engagement, acquisition of land rights, statutory land rights, and asset transfers. Handle disputes and legal matters related to land and access, working to resolve issues with landowners. Offer legal guidance on commercial, planning, and regulatory matters relevant to the organisation. Deliver clear, accessible, and commercially sound legal advice, tailored to the needs of various stakeholders. Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams to identify legal solutions and provide efficiencies in project delivery. Manage relationships with external legal advisors, ensuring high value for money and risk management in the engagement of outside counsel. Contribute to legal team initiatives, meetings, and presentations, adding value by sharing knowledge and insights on key legal issues. Knowledge, Skills, and Experience Essential: Qualified solicitor with 1-4 years post-qualification experience in property or land law, preferably in the energy, infrastructure, or regulated sectors. Demonstrated ability to handle a high workload across a variety of legal areas, including property, planning, environmental law, and infrastructure projects. Strong commercial and legal judgment with the ability to provide clear, concise, and accessible legal advice. Excellent attention to detail and commercial focus. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively within teams. Results-driven, organised, and efficient, with the capacity to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines consistently. Demonstrated ability to work independently and take initiative. Desirable: Experience working in the energy or infrastructure sectors, or within a regulated environment. Experience in large organisations and multi-disciplinary teams. Knowledge of the energy industry or a demonstrated interest in climate change and sustainability.
