Job Ref: AGSLP/0824 Job Title: Legal Professional: Solicitor/Barrister, An Garda Sochna Job Location: Dublin 15 or Dublin 8 Salary: Starting from €78,303 Application Method: GetGot Application form only - An Garda Sochna is seeking applications from Solicitors and Barristers with 3 years post qualification experience. The Solicitors/Barristers at AP level will be required to provide advice in a fast paced legal environment dealing with a broad range of legal issues and will report to the Head of Department within the relevant Legal Section. Principal Duties and Responsibilities Assisting the relevant Head of Section and Executive Director Legal with all legal proceedings and requests for legal assistance concerning An Garda Sochna Managing and preparing Briefs for the Chief State Solicitor's Office/Attorney General's Office as necessary. Monitoring the outcome of litigation and casework and supervising staff. Liaising as necessary with all relevant internal and external stakeholders in connection with litigation. Analysing legal issues and providing effective and timely legal advice on a broad range of issues to include criminal law, human rights, data protection law, freedom of information, administrative and regulatory law. Relevant input on new draft legislation. Reviewing existing and developing new policies, procedures and guidance documents from a legal, constitutional and human rights perspectives. Provision of training where required. Participation on internal and external workshops, working groups, focus and steering groups where required. Preparation of briefing documents for submission to Executive Director Legal. Liaising with and maintaining effective and professional working relations with An Garda Sochna staff and external agencies. Performing management functions to include providing leadership, motivation and managing staff performance.
