Job Summary: Lighting Designer required for a leading lighting and emergency lighting system integrator in Dublin 24. The successful candidate will work on planning systems, lighting requirements, and communicating effectively to ensure design intent is maintained throughout the project.

Our clients are one of Ireland's leading lighting and emergency lighting system integrators. An exciting opportunity has arisen for a design engineer for our Engineering / Estimating department. This position will be based at our Head office in Dublin 24.

This is an exciting opportunity for potential candidates to be part of a motivated project team allowing the successful candidate to learn from experienced professionals and develop their skills.

The Role:

  • Working within the Engineering team on planning systems, lighting requirements and communicating effectively to ensure design intent is maintained throughout the project.
  • Keeping up to date and familiar with the necessary software packages including Dialux, Autocad, Navisworks, Microsoft Suite and PDF editing function.
  • Liaise and co-ordinate with other members of the design team and contractors on technical and commercial issues by taking information from the BDM team, running up a design, presenting to the client, tweaking as necessary and integrating with 3rd party vendors as required.
  • Engage in Pre-Construction Engineering activities and the production of information including, design development, construction details, technical submittals, drawings and lighting calculations etc.
  • Engage in services co-ordination exercises and solve co-ordination issues.
  • Provide technical support to the estimating, procurement, commercial, marketing department, Project management and Commissioning teams.
  • Interface with suppliers for specialised requests.
  • Development of system single line architectural drawings.
  • Prepare handover packs for end users.
  • Complete QC inspection procedures to ensure that client specifications are achieved.
  • Completion of all necessary training to keep abreast of new technologies.
  • Coordinate factory witness testing activities.
  • Additional duties as required.

The Person:

  • Strong technical ability in all aspects of Electrical Engineering Services.
  • Proactive with a strong ability to work independently and without supervision.
  • Minimum 3 years previous experience within the construction or industrial design is an advantage.
  • Diploma or Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
  • Knowledge & experience of current IS, BS, EN and IEC Standards.
  • Experience of vendor & contractor interaction & management.
  • Proactive, a good communicator with the ability to work well with others in a multifunctional project team.
  • Excellent interpersonal and leadership skills are required.
  • Good knowledge and proficiency in using Navisworks suite of tools.
  • Excellent level of attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Dialux/Relux Simulation Skills (an advantage).
  • IT skills, MS Office.
