Job Description

Location: Dublin, Ireland Employment Type: Fixed Term, Full time Salary: € Not Disclosed Language Requirement: Fluent English Closing Date: 30 Sep 2024, 17:45 Who We Are (CHI) is leading on the clinical and operational transformation of acute paediatric healthcare and consists of hospitals at Crumlin, Temple Street and Tallaght as well as an Urgent Care Centre at Connolly hospital in Blanchardstown. Description Purpose of the Role: To deliver specialist tertiary level general medical, surgical and cardiac paediatric critical care. To lead a multi-disciplinary team in the provision of such care. To pursue and maintain excellence through continuous engagement in quality improvement and risk management processes. To advocate for the implementation of national standards of care for the critically ill child both within CHI and throughout the Irish Paediatric Network. To share expertise through active engagement in education and the timely support of colleagues. To help in shaping the evolution of the specialty of Paediatric Critical Care in Ireland so that it continues to meet the needs of patients and their families in the future. Eligibility Criteria: Registration as a specialist in the Specialist Division of the Register of Medical Practitioners maintained by the Medical Council in Ireland in the specialty of Paediatrics, Anaesthesiology or Paediatric Surgery. Two years of continuous certified postgraduate training in paediatric critical care medicine of which at least one year must be in congenital cardiac critical care. One year of training programme must be post CSCST. Non-anaesthesiology trainees to have completed training in anaesthesiology in line with the Joint Faculty of Intensive Care Medicine of Ireland’s requirements in effect at the commencement of the candidate’s training. The current requirement is 6 months. The successful interviewee must be registered as a specialist in the relevant specialty on the Specialist Division of the Register of Medical Practitioners maintained by the Medical Council of Ireland, within 180 days of the day of interview and before taking up appointment. Should the successful candidate not be registered as a Specialist at that time, the post may be offered to the next suitable candidate. Should no suitable candidate exist, a further recruitment process may be initiated.
