Job Description

Reporting to the Managing Directors, Operations Manager & Technical representative and working closely with the production team. The main responsibility of the role will be effective and efficient management of the engineering resources for the site. Responsibility: Must be committed to product safety, legality, integrity and quality. To always demonstrate and promote food safety culture. To be aware of other members of staff, visitors or contractors that may conduct acts of malicious contamination or theft and report accordingly to management. Identify and report potentially non-conforming product to management including raw materials. Report any unidentified or unknown visitors to management. Report any signs of pest activity or signs of pests to the Technical Manager immediately. Ensuring that all equipment is installed and maintained in a safe working condition and is available for production use is required. The aim of this is to reduce down-time, product non-conformances and to achieve set performance standards. Oversee product quality and product process controls. Ensuring that all machinery in the factory has the relevant documentation for PPM, External servicing and contingency. Conduct daily and weekly maintenance checks on equipment/machinery by prioritizing with the Operations Manager. Maintain and communicate information via management meetings which are relative to plant operations and to identify improvement opportunities within the company. Reinforce the HACCP plan which is critical to product safety and provide support in reviewing this system. Implement and maintain quality improvement plans, policies, and procedures which are endorsed by the factory quality management system. Ensuring that all legislative and company policies and procedures are adhered to. Managing the introduction and commissioning of new equipment, ensuring that SOPs and PPM schedules are in place and that risk assessments are also in place. Co-operate with regular internal audits in accordance with BRC GS Standards. Managers are required to apply the appropriate corrective action within an agreed timescale, regarding any issues which have been raised during such an audit. Responsible for all aspects for food safety, quality and ensuring hygiene standards are maintained. Management of plant and machinery lifecycle analysis and replacement plans. To promote a safe culture with regards to Health & Safety requirements. Authorize permission to work and ensure all activities are conducted safely and without risk of contaminating the product. Willing to perform additional activities outside own area of expertise. In the absence of the Site Engineer, external engineers and other senior management shall have these responsibilities. Otherwise the Director may appoint a suitable person who has experience in a similar role within the food manufacturing industry.
