Job Description

Responsibilities & Accountabilities(in no particular order of priority) This is a hands-on role with responsibilities for the planned, preventative and reactive maintenance of all existing mechanical infrastructure. Including and not limited to the repair and installation of current and new mechanical requirements and refurbishments. Responsibly and ownership of all mechanical equipment and its uptime throughout the hospital extend to the full range of HVAC equipment, water services, med gases general maintenance activities such as contractor engagement in the areas of water sampling, testing, tank cleaning etc. and any other duties assigned / deemed appropriate to the post. Please note that the duties of this post may change over time. An exemplar list includes but is not limited to; Install or maintain, individually or in conjunction with other members of the FED teams, the fabrics, structures, buildings, equipment, plant and systems throughout the Hospital. Ensure that all work is carried out to the appropriate standard and in accordance with manufacturers specifications and current regulations. To provide trades assistance (example Mechanical and Electrical) as may be required. Arrange and coordinate, where necessary, assistance from other trades. Participate in information gathering relating to accidents, incidents, mishaps, complaints and defects where appropriate and investigate the circumstances of such occurrences with appropriate staff. Liaise with departmental managers (users) as required. To appraise their immediate supervisor of any work or personal difficulties that might adversely affect the performance of their assigned duties. To perform the duties outlined throughout the Hospital Site or other such locations as may be required by the Hospital. To maintain at all times a satisfactory standards of work. To perform such tasks appropriate to his/her trade as may be assigned by the Engineering Supervisor, FED management or their agents. Participate where appropriate, in education and training. Carry pager or other such communications device if required. Participate in on call/standby Emergency Rota if/when deemed appropriate by FED management and requested by them. Administrative Responsibilities To maintain such records, systems and supporting documentation as required such that all documentation within the department is completed satisfactorily and efficiently. Create and promote open communications, healthy working relationships, and stimulate initiative within the department. Health and Safety Please note that the Post holder has personal responsibility for their Health, Safety and Welfare at Work. Responsible for ensuring that materials used are healthcare safe and appropriate. Responsible for planning and undertaking works throughout the hospital including specialist healthcare areas. Responsible for undertaking hospital surveys to assess needs and plan works. Accountable to the Maintenance Supervisor and other Professional Technical Team Members. Working and integrating within the FED to ensure delivery of high quality services. Any other duties deemed appropriate to the post. Please note that the duties of this post may change over time. Remuneration:Remuneration is in accordance with salary scales approved by the Department of Health / Health Service Executive. The salary scale for this post currently ranges from €39,653 to €45,895 per annum as of 01/06/2024. Payment is made on a fortnightly basis by credit transfer.
