We are looking for a thought leader and technical expert in a particular vertical (e.g., Financial Services, Telecommunications) to join the CXO Advisory team. This part of the industry solutions organization is a fast-growing, globally-dispersed team working in an exciting space with nearly limitless opportunities for growth. Our team's members are experienced practitioners and experts who work directly with the C-Suite of our clients around application modernization and related strategies while being able to communicate effectively with customer developers. The Application Modernization Advisory team is the MongoDB expert community delivering thought leadership and practical directions for the legacy modernization and innovation of application stacks. This is NOT limited to database interactions but takes a holistic end-to-end view based on the experiences of the MongoDB team, including the full application stack. Generative AI plays a key role in this process, serving as a tool for modernization of legacy systems and guiding development organizations towards future challenges. The individual will engage with clients and continuously evolve approaches and concepts. The focus is on supporting a well-defined group of global enterprise clients closely aligned with the MongoDB Strategy. Responsibilities range from supporting executive sales conversations, developing sales materials, training sales representatives, advising customers on modernization strategies, to providing senior leadership for individual modernization pilots and programs. At times, to ensure the success of customer projects, it will be necessary to dive into code to provide technical direction. Superb communication skills, including presentation skills, are paramount. Past experience in software development and management of software is also required. You will work closely with a broad variety of functions within the company, including sales, professional services, product, and marketing. You will play a key role in winning deals and driving the business forward, serving as a trusted advisor to a wide range of clients. The location for this role is flexible but needs to be within the specified region. This role can be based remotely in Europe where MongoDB has an established entity. As an ideal candidate, you will have 20+ years in a particular vertical (e.g., Financial Services, Telecommunications) across multiple areas (e.g., Application Development, Risk & Treasury, Retail, Wealth Management, etc.) 15+ years of software development and architecture experience 10+ years of IT management experience, including leading a development organization Deep experience with various database products, ETL tools, and database modeling and design Experience transforming legacy environments (e.g., Mainframe, DB2, Oracle PL/SQL) to modern microservice architectures Excellent presentation and communication skills with the ability to visualize and communicate complex information to all levels of an organization Experience with scalable and highly available distributed systems Ability to discuss a broad range of data technologies (e.g., RDBMS, Java, NoSQL, etc.) Ability to travel up to 50% for client engagements, events, and team meetups You may also have Entrepreneurial spirit to work in a cross-functional organization MongoDB Certifications Cloud vendor Certifications in related fields Additional language skills (Conversational proficiency is acceptable) What you do at MongoDB You engage with the most senior leaders of our customers during their transformation journey: Create buy-in for the Modernization Factory Advise customers on their transformation strategy Design pilots for generative AI-augmented transformations You partner with our sales team to ensure success in accounts embarking on modernization programs You present MongoDB's position at various events, either in person or digitally You oversee and drive customer project delivery teams to success, detecting and resolving technical problems You align closely with our product management organization and communicate field requirements to product management leadership You demonstrate resilience and sound judgment in dealing with business challenges and guide junior colleagues You proactively seek opportunities to enable other parts of the MongoDB organization on modernization projects You maintain situational awareness and react appropriately in group settings Enjoy the ride because we're growing fast!
