Managing Director Davies Chadwicks Group, part of the esteemed Grafton Group Plc, holds the prestigious position as a leading force in the builder's merchanting industry throughout the Republic of Ireland. Its foundational operations are rooted in the well-established Builders Merchants division, where renowned brands like Chadwicks, Cork Builders Providers, Davies, and Telfords have become trusted names for quality products and services. Principle Objective Reporting to the Managing Director of the Builders Merchant Division, the Managing Director of Davies is responsible for creating the Strategic direction of the Davies Group business. This involves managing, developing and monitoring the performance of the entire Davies business within The Chadwicks Group and the development of business through the Group Network in keeping with the overall strategy of the business. Knowledge & Experience An experienced strategic business leader in a comparable role with 5+ years in a similar role, preferably with industry knowledge. Holding a business degree or construction industry qualification; an MBA or similar post graduate qualification would be desirable. Experience of driving a sustainability strategy would be a positive addition. Solid leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire a diverse team. Demonstrable ability to grow a business. Effective communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to collaborate with external stakeholders at all levels. The ability to solve problems and make decisions, as well as think laterally and offer creative solutions. Key Responsibilities To lead and manage the managers of the business to ensure the smooth, efficient, and effective running of those business units. Enable change to ensure the business remains relevant to the market and has a sustainable business model into the future. Conduct regular assessments of our customer and market needs, analysing competition’s capability relating to building solutions. Responsible for all the safety aspects within the area of own responsibility. Manage and develop your team ensuring clear targets and objectives are defined and met on a regular basis. Lead the process for planning, budgeting, forecasting and scenario planning for the business. Work with the wider Chadwicks Group Leadership Team to identify opportunities for synergy & integration where appropriate. Developing sustainable relationships with suppliers and key customers. Promote sustainability across the key strategic areas identified in the business. Drive a positive culture across the business, listening to colleagues and leading the way in diversity and inclusion. Ensure that all Company policies and procedures are being followed and improve processes and policies where needed. Identify and lead technology driven projects that will ensure operational and fleet efficiencies as well as customer service and sustainability improvements. Continuous Improvement - drive continuous improvement throughout the business. Role Model - maintain a professional image for the Company and wider Group in all dealings. Networking - build and maintain strong relations across the Chadwicks Group. Any other ad hoc duties as reasonably requested by the Divisional MD. Essential Competencies Solid strategic and commercial acumen coupled with a practical pragmatic approach. Proven track record in leading and motivating a team and driving operational performance. The ability to build relationships with both customers and suppliers. Drive, enthusiasm, and flair, combined with resilience and rigour. Positive can-do attitude.
