Managing Director, Henderson Wholesale Limited. Henderson Group is a multi-award winning, family-owned business and, with over 5300 colleagues across the Group, it is one of Northern Irelands largest employers. The Company dates back to 1897 when it started life as a retail grocery business today it is a £1.3bn Group comprising of four operating companies: Henderson Wholesale (which is complemented by its subsidiary companies, Henderson Technology and Henderson Print), Henderson Retail, Henderson Foodservice and Henderson Group Property. Henderson Wholesale Limited (HWL) is an ecosystem of companies and services supplying over 500 stores across Northern Ireland and providing a unique support package to its retail partners which includes marketing, logistics, retail services, IT support, training & development, trading support, dedicated business development managers, central warehousing and an extensive range of fresh foods. Due to succession planning, Henderson Wholesale wishes to appoint a new Managing Director to have overall responsibility for the development, strategic direction and leadership of the Company and for maximising its sustained profitable performance. Reporting to the Joint Executive Group Chairman, the Managing Director will provide overall leadership to the HWL Board and wider organisation, setting and driving strategy, ensuring excellence in the delivery of service provision and spearheading growth, diversification and acquisitions based on ever-changing customer requirements or trends. The MD will be an ambassador locally and internationally, representing the Group on the SPAR UK Board and collaborating with peers in SPAR International, contributing to and leveraging both entities for the good of the Group as a whole. A key leadership appointment, the MD will equally role model the Companys values throughout the organisation and be known for their high degree of personal integrity and authenticity. The successful candidate will possess the following skills and experience: A proven record of success at senior management level in a commercial function, ideally also with general management of business operations or physical sites. Proven commercial acumen within the FMCG sector. A proven record of leading successful negotiations with customers. Experience of influencing a wide range of internal and external stakeholders. Experience of full responsibility for a companys P&L performance is highly desirable. Experience of operating at Board level and of leading a Director level team within a commercial organisation would also be desirable.
