Your new company

Here at Hays Recruitment, our leading medical device client is hiring a Manufacturing Engineer on a full-time basis in their manufacturing facility based just outside Galway city. This large organisation would specialise in the manufacture of plastics used to create complex catheters for investigation and discovery through injection moulding practices and techniques.

Your new role

  1. Diagnose and implement permanent solutions to manufacturing issues in a structured problem-solving approach.
  2. Champion problem-solving through appropriate documentation and knowledge sharing.
  3. Drive Continuous Improvement by leading the implementation of Lean/Six Sigma manufacturing principles.
  4. Work within a highly regulated environment ensuring the highest product quality is achieved through robust quality system processes such as GMP, NCR and CAPA.
  5. Improve the production flow to achieve quality at source and rapid feedback from inspections.
  6. Ensure product specification requirements are met and inspection standards are upheld through concise standard work.
  7. Lead teams in the execution of validation activities.
  8. Analyse and implement innovative improvements in operational performance through key Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) metrics: Yield, Uptime, and Performance.
  9. Increase capability, capacity, and stability of processes, product, equipment, and materials.
  10. Mechanical design of jigs and fixtures to meet manufacturing requirements, optimise machine changeover time, and improve maintenance.
  11. Evaluate, in conjunction with EHS, new equipment/processes/chemicals for environmental impact.
  12. Adhere to Plant Safety requirements and Health & Safety requirements relating to your work, assuming responsibility for those aspects of the OH&S System over which you have control to ensure the health and safety of yourself and others.
  13. Be aware of the potential environmental impacts associated with your work and the implications of non-conformance.
  14. Contribute to enhanced energy performance by conservation of energy where possible (Lighting, Equipment, Air Conditioning, etc.).
  15. Contribute to the continual improvement activities of the OH&S, Environmental and Energy Management systems through participation, providing feedback/suggestions for improvement and by reporting accidents, dangerous occurrences, near misses, illnesses, good catches, and environmental incidents in a timely manner.

What you'll need to succeed

  1. Experience of validation techniques & applications (IQ/OQ/PQ, TMVs, etc.), associated regulatory requirements, and statistical data analysis.
  2. Demonstrate a motivated & flexible approach to work with results-oriented attitude.
  3. Excellent interpersonal, communication, planning, and organizational skills.
  4. Able to manage complex technical projects to strict deadlines through appropriate Project Management methods and tools (PMBOK methods).
  5. Actively promote and lead a cross-functional teamwork environment.
  6. Provide technical guidance & mentorship of technicians.
  7. NFQ Level 8 in a Technical Discipline (Mechanical, Manufacturing, Mechatronics, or Biomedical) with a minimum of two years relevant industry experience.
  8. Project Management and Six Sigma qualifications will be a distinct advantage.
  9. Problem-Solving, Process Improvement, Data Analysis, and Project Management experience.
