To assist the Operations department in improving the manufacturing of product and develop the most optimum molding process and tooling and automation solutions which meet or exceed customer requirements.
This person will provide the company with the technical resources to ensure that current and future projects are run in accordance with customer specifications and in-house specifications and standards.
Reports directly to the Engineering Manager Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Responsible for the introduction of all new products into the company and compiling standard specifications for each process and monitoring all existing production to standard specifications.
Responsible for executing projects relating to new products, the continuous improvement program, lean program & line extensions for existing customers & products.
Solves, in conjunction with the Quality department, customer related problems/issues as needed and is responsible for closeout of internal quality and CAPA related actions.
Instructs others, formally or informally, regarding manufacturing related skills or knowledge and assist in the training of employees on new processes or systems introduced to the company.
Coordinate the development of documentation in the Production and Technical areas in line with ISO9001 and ISO 13485 requirements, and review the systems with the Group Leaders and the Quality department on a regular basis to ensure conformance to same.
Communicate on a regular basis (or as appropriate) with external suppliers of materials and equipment and provide regular feedback on any issues to the management team.
Must have a minimum of a National Diploma Level 7 or Level 8 with significant experience in Plastics Engineering (Preferably a Degree in Plastics Engineering) and at least 5 years' experience in the injection molding industry.
Must have a very good knowledge of injection mold tooling and design.
Must have a very good knowledge of injection molding (standard process and Multi component), processing, ancillary equipment, Robots and automation systems.
Must have an in-depth knowledge of Statistical Process Control (SPC) and Design of experiments (DOE) and demonstrate use of same.
Physical: Medium - exerting up to 50lb/22kg of force occasionally and/or up to 20lbs/9kg of force frequently, and/or up to 10lbs/4kgs of force constantly to move objects.
Job-related activities that require physical activity: Must be able to stand/walk for periods of up to 4 hours between rest periods.
When absent from the site duties and responsibilities will be delegated to the following designates: Process Engineer Process Technician.
