Abbott Ireland Diagnostic Division – Longford
Abbott established a diagnostics manufacturing facility in Sligo in 1994 to manufacture blood-screening products and reagents. In 2004, Abbott's operations in Ireland expanded with the opening of a second facility in Longford.
The Longford facility plays a key role in helping Abbott to meet the increasing global demand for diagnostic testing in areas such as infectious disease, cancer, thyroid, and cardiovascular diseases.
**Job Responsibilities**
- Perform hands-on maintenance of all manufacturing equipment
- Maximize availability of all Filling, Labelling, and packing equipment
- Monitor and maintain Mechanical, Electrical, Pneumatic systems, including PLC control systems and vision systems
- Manage critical services in facilities and utilities, including Boilers, HVAC, Coolers, and Ultra-low freezers
- Track parts inventory using Maximo system
- Perform day-to-day preventative and demand maintenance as required
- Attend meetings and keep managers updated with line performance
- Monitor line performance using OEE
- Liaise and coordinate with external contractors for maintenance and breakdown services
- Assist in FAT, SAT, and qualification protocols
- Ensure equipment and systems meet legal, divisional, and corporate standards
- Ensure safety standards are met and safe working practices are adhered to
- Communicate effectively with plant management, corporate, and division engineering
**Requirements**
- Relevant third-level qualification in Engineering and/or senior trades
- At least five years of experience in an engineering environment in a related industry
- Working knowledge and experience on PLC and QBMS systems
**Working Hours**
12 hour shifts across days and nights
