Abbott Ireland Diagnostic Division – Longford

Abbott established a diagnostics manufacturing facility in Sligo in 1994 to manufacture blood-screening products and reagents. In 2004, Abbott's operations in Ireland expanded with the opening of a second facility in Longford.

The Longford facility plays a key role in helping Abbott to meet the increasing global demand for diagnostic testing in areas such as infectious disease, cancer, thyroid, and cardiovascular diseases.

**Job Responsibilities**

  • Perform hands-on maintenance of all manufacturing equipment
  • Maximize availability of all Filling, Labelling, and packing equipment
  • Monitor and maintain Mechanical, Electrical, Pneumatic systems, including PLC control systems and vision systems
  • Manage critical services in facilities and utilities, including Boilers, HVAC, Coolers, and Ultra-low freezers
  • Track parts inventory using Maximo system
  • Perform day-to-day preventative and demand maintenance as required
  • Attend meetings and keep managers updated with line performance
  • Monitor line performance using OEE
  • Liaise and coordinate with external contractors for maintenance and breakdown services
  • Assist in FAT, SAT, and qualification protocols
  • Ensure equipment and systems meet legal, divisional, and corporate standards
  • Ensure safety standards are met and safe working practices are adhered to
  • Communicate effectively with plant management, corporate, and division engineering

**Requirements**

  • Relevant third-level qualification in Engineering and/or senior trades
  • At least five years of experience in an engineering environment in a related industry
  • Working knowledge and experience on PLC and QBMS systems

**Working Hours**

12 hour shifts across days and nights
