Job Description

Due to continued growth and expansion, our client, an award winning company in Wexford, are currently seeking to recruit an experienced full-time, permanent Materials Processing Manager to join their team. Synopsis of the position: This is a newly created position for Kent Group and the role will require the successful candidate to supervise a team of up to 20 people in a manufacturing environment. The successful candidate will be reporting to the Production Manager and will be responsible for schedule adherence, workload allocation and training, while maintaining company quality standards in the material preparation, processing and machine-based unit function within Kent Group. The role will have a strong emphasis on Lean management and methodologies with visual management techniques at its core. Within the Lean context, the right candidate is expected to champion a continuous improvement culture around process capability, measuring and compliance. It is expected that the right candidate will be internal customer focused and deliver a quality service through delivery of fabrication kits and other components, in a structured open and transparent fashion. The Material Processing Manager will take full responsibility for the area/unit with a primary objective of supplying kits and components to the manufacturing facility along with outside vendors. The role requires a professional approach to managing resources efficiently and structuring the department to deliver both efficiently and on time. The Manager will work with their team to instill a customer centered approach for the business. Role and Responsibilities: Schedule execution and communication around the work plan. Appropriate workload to team members in line with customer requirements and available resources, and material. Ensure timely delivery of material to fabrication in an efficient manner including managing booked time versus planned times variances. Oversee and implement process improvements around process flow and quality requirements and standard work practices. Work with the engineering and quality departments to ensure all issues are resolved and drive follow up preventative actions in a continuous improvement environment. Update and ensure completion of actions from daily production quality and engineering meetings. Escalate any production issues to the Production Manager, resolve as needed and manage escalations through the morning meeting process. Ensure all quality and production documentation is understood and delivered as required with each product completion. In conjunction with the Production Manager, the successful applicant will ensure that resources are available when needed especially planning around holiday times to ensure production demands are addressed and achieved. Work with the Process Improvement Leader to ensure all work practices are clear and operating in an efficient manner. Be proactive in improving all processes structures, quality and housekeeping in the area. Ensure all training is carried out and appropriately signed off. Drive a high level of personnel performance around work execution, attendance and quality, cycle times and resolution of day-to-day issues. Champion a focus on employee health and safety through the companies 5S program. Oversee and champion new work practices to improve performance right across the business. Qualifications / Competencies required: 3rd level qualification in Engineering or Business/equivalent Previous experience in manufacturing or engineering. Experience within a machine-based engineering environment will prove a distinct advantage Proficient with Microsoft office and some previous exposure to SAP or equivalent ERP systems Some basic exposure to AutoCAD or Solidworks and CNC programming would prove advantageous. A minimum of 3 years hands-on and proven experience with managing personnel and processes would prove a distinct advantage.
