About the Role The hospital has a vacancy for a Medical Physicist to work within its Medical Physics division. The Department provides radiotherapy, radiation protection, diagnostic radiology and non-ionising radiation services to the hospital. The successful candidate will be mainly employed in the radiotherapy department although roles and duties in diagnostic imaging would also be expected. We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated scientist who wishes to apply and develop their knowledge and experience in the areas outlined above. Essential Criteria Eligible applicants will be those who on the closing date for the competition: 1.A recognised first or second class honours degree in which Physics was taken as a major subject and honours obtained in that subject or; 2.Hold a recognised qualification at least equivalent thereto. 3.Possess the required knowledge and ability (including a high standard of suitability) for the proper discharge of duties of the post 4.Eligibility to work in Ireland Desirable Criteria 5.Completion of a formal training scheme in medical physics. 6.Possession of a postgraduate qualification in a scientific or engineering discipline. 7.Experience in the field of medical imaging or Radiotherapy. 8.Experience working in multidisciplinary environments. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES 1.Primary responsibility is to provide medical physics support for high quality diagnostic and radiation therapy to cancer patients 2.Assist the Radiotherapy department setting up new systems which support the needs of the hospital, its patients and is consistent with the mission, vision, values and strategic plan. 3.Support the Chief Physicist in developing and maintaining best practice in the management of the Medical Physics Department.
