Description County Galway area (Strictly Hybrid – on-site 2 days per week) Codec is an award-winning digital transformation company with big growth ambitions. We have an open role with one of our established clients based in Oranmore, Galway. The ideal candidate will need to demonstrate excellent analytical and problem-solving aptitude, present strong leadership capabilities and be proficient in both verbal and written communications. Codec supports Hybrid working and flexible working arrangements for staff, however, on-site working is required as part of this role. This is currently expected to be 2 days per week in Oranmore, Galway but this may change as required by the customer team. As such, we are seeking candidates who are located in Ireland with existing Right to Work approval. The successful candidate will ideally be in the Galway area, or commutable to it, and with access to their own transport. Role Summary: As a Software Developer, you will be instrumental in designing, developing, and implementing complex software systems that are foundational to our client's success. You will leverage your expertise in MVC .NET, SQL Server, and Angular to build scalable, high-performance applications. Working within an Agile environment, you will embrace the Scrum framework to ensure timely delivery of projects, while championing best practices in Cloud Applications, Test best practice and Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD). Key Responsibilities: Design and develop robust software systems using MVC .NET, SQL Server, and Angular, ensuring high performance and scalability. Implement Agile methodologies to streamline development and delivery processes. Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines in Azure DevOps, enhancing automation and deployment efficiency. Employ best practice Testing approaches for code refactoring and quality improvement, ensuring the highest code standards. Collaborate closely with internal clients to design and develop tailored business applications that meet and exceed requirements. Contribute to project planning and provide regular status reports, ensuring transparency and effective communication across teams. Skills, Knowledge and Expertise: Experience Required:.Net Software Development: Minimum 5 years of experience in software application development utilising Microsoft .Net framework (version 4.5+), C#, ASP.Net, coupled with SQL Server database development (including stored procedures and triggers). Experience in an Agile development setting is essential. Software Development Process: Proven track record of working with structured software development processes. Familiarity with code testing frameworks (e.g., Jasmine) and continuous delivery tools, along with source code management using Azure DevOps, TFS, or GitHub, is required. Requirements Analysis and Software Design: Demonstrable experience in developing user requirements for new software functionalities, including crafting user stories and transforming requirements into actionable software designs. Experience in delivering software within ISO or similar quality-accredited environments is highly desirable. Qualifications:Development & Integration: Work closely with a larger team to develop, deploy and maintain scalable, responsive software using SQL Server as a transactional data store. Collaboration & Communication: Collaborate with a wider team to gather requirements, refine specifications, and deliver comprehensive solutions aligned with customer expectations and business processes. Quality Assurance & Testing: Work with Test resources to ensure that software is deployed in a secure and bug-free manner. Develop and maintain a robust suite of tests to ensure code reliability and facilitate continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines. Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve defects and performance issues. Ensure compliance with coding standards and technical design best practices. Documentation & Reporting: Contribute to documentation regarding application design, system requirements, and process flows. Provide reports on status, challenges, and milestones to customer team lead, as required. Desirable Skills:Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field. Certifications in relevant technologies (e.g., Microsoft Azure, Angular etc). Experience with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices. Familiarity with additional backend technologies or frameworks.
