Network Development Engineer

Design, build, and operate the network infrastructure of the world's largest cloud computing infrastructure, collaborating with a team of experts to deliver innovative solutions.

As a Network Development Engineer at Amazon Web Services (AWS), you will be responsible for building and operating the network infrastructure, learning the tools, services, and components that the team relies upon every day.

Through close collaboration, support, and exchange of ideas, we share a common goal to serve our external customers, with seemingly infinite capacity at the lowest possible cost.

You will be working with the most advanced tools, processes, and talented people in the industry to make the Cloud a reality.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop network infrastructure solutions for large-scale data centers and WAN environments.
  • Develop engineering, deployment, or operations mechanisms to support IP networking systems.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and resolve network-related issues.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest network technologies and protocols, and implement best practices in network design and operations.
  • Participate in on-call rotations and respond to customer impacting events.

Requirements:

  • Résumé should clearly demonstrate a relevant degree in a related technical discipline or equivalent experience in a large-scale network environment.
  • Experience in a network focused hands-on technical role working with routing protocols/technologies and platforms in large scale data centre and/or Wide Area Networking (WAN) environments.
  • Experience developing engineering, deployment, or operations mechanisms to support IP networking systems.
  • Experience in a technical on-call capacity, responding to customer impacting events, mitigating and root cause analysis of those events.
  • Knowledge & experience of interacting with many network devices at a time through any of networking configuration tools, Infrastructure as Code or scripting.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Thorough understanding of TCP/IP networking, routing, and Network Security architecture and core technologies such as IP, TCP, OSPF, BGP, MPLS, load balancers, firewalls, ACLs, DNS, DHCP, IP address management.
  • Knowledge & experience of Linux or other Unix operating systems.
  • Understands different networking hardware and packet forwarding architectures.
  • Proficiency in scripting/programming with one or more of Python (preferred), Perl, Ruby, Shell, Java, etc.
