Job Description

We're seeking a Network Engineer to join our team and support the day-to-day operations of our global network infrastructure. The ideal candidate will have experience with internet routing protocols, network operating systems, and automation via scripting and programming.

  • Key Responsibilities:
    • First response to monitoring systems alarms and stabilization of impacts across the Amazon network
    • Troubleshooting routing and interconnectivity problems, including hardware failures
    • Collaboration with internal teams to diagnose problems and return devices/configurations to a healthy state
    • Escalation to external vendors and ISPs to diagnose problems and facilitate part replacement
  • About the Team:
    • The Network Operations team is responsible for maintaining the health of Amazon's Retail and Web Services network, responding to operational changes, and working with internal teams and external vendors/ISPs to return to a fully operational state

  • Requirements:
    • Experience with internet routing protocols and concepts, including TCP/IP, BGP, MPLS, ISIS, and/or OSPF
    • Experience with network operating systems, such as Cisco IOS and Junos
    • Experience in working in a Linux/Unix environment
    • Experience in automation via Bash/shell scripting and Perl/Python programming
