Job Description

What is the opportunity? A position has arisen for a Firewall Security Engineer to work within the Infrastructure Operations team in governing, managing, and reviewing the operation & change activities within the groups Firewall estate. The successful applicant will work in a dynamic environment and have responsibility for all aspects of Firewall Operations within the BOI Network Tower! In this role, you will: Responsible for FW estate operations activities incl. governance and control(s) Work optimally with vendor(s) to ensure estate currency and vulnerability remediation Oversee changes to the Firewall hardware in conjunction with the Vendor carrying out the changes. Responsible for the identification and logging/remediation of Risk in line with BOI Risk Management process. Review requests for change and translating business (non-technical language) into technical requirements. Responsible for analysing, documenting and certifying the current firewall rule base, including keeping the documentation & rule certification current as the estate changes. Responsible for ensuring that pre-existing rules are aligned with updated BOI Security Standards on an ongoing basis and lead remediation exercises where required. Development and monitoring of operational metrics What will make you stand out? The successful candidate will have good knowledge of Enterprise Network infrastructure including topology, security policies, firewalls and the L2/L3 switch and router infrastructure. Experience operating multi-vendor FW technologies and administration experience of FW compliance tooling. You will be capable of translating business (non-technical requirements) into technical language, have strong analytical and problem-solving skills and have the ability to lead, inspire change and manage on one's own initiative. Experience with any of the following will help you to stand out but is not vital in order to apply for this role; Forcepoint Web security or other Proxy experience CISCO/CompTIA and Firewall Vendor Certification Essential Qualifications Relevant 3rd level qualification High level understanding of multi-tiered application traffic flow, load balancing, and routing More about the team Infrastructure Operations, part of Technology Services, has overarching responsibility for the IT Infrastructure that supports all aspects of the Group's business, including Voice Services, Networking, Data Centre Services and End-User Experience. This job can be done anywhere in Republic of Ireland with the primary office location as Dublin to which travel will be required for in person collaboration.
