Edge Network Engineer Job Description
At Meta, we're responsible for designing and maintaining the global IP backbone that connects our global Internet user community. We're looking for a seasoned Network Engineer to join our team and help us innovate and improve our network infrastructure.
- Design and Develop Network Solutions
- Collaborate with partner teams to develop network designs and solutions that meet our product needs.
- Select industry technologies and protocols, and work with vendors to develop new features and products.
- Manage and Maintain Network Infrastructure
- Design, test, and manage multi-vendor, multi-protocol backbone, POP, and peering network infrastructure.
- Write and review code, develop documentation, and debug complex problems.
- Develop audits and checks to ensure network health and safe change management.
- Champion Innovation and Collaboration
- Bring new network products to life and champion innovation within the team.
- Collaborate with vendors to develop new features and products that meet our product needs.
- Work closely with the rest of the team to share knowledge and expertise.
- 2+ years of work experience in network engineering.
- 1+ years of work experience coding in higher-level languages (e.g., Python, C++, Go, etc.).
- Experience developing and understanding network device configuration for at least one vendor (Juniper, Cisco, Arista, Nokia, etc.).
- Protocol experience in one or more of BGP, OSPF, or ISIS - understanding of typical configurations and performance optimizations.
- Experience in network design or architecture.
- Experience with MPLS, RSVP-TE, and IS-IS TE.
- Experience with carrier-grade backbone routing and traffic engineering.
- Experience writing code to automate network deployments, monitoring, or remediation.
