About Us

The Nationalist group of newspapers (Carlow Nationalist, Kildare Nationalist, and Laois Nationalist) are part of the Irish Times Group and have served their readers since 1883.

Print editions are published each Tuesday providing a full range of news including courts, councils, and community, and The Nationalist group's websites are updated throughout the day.

Job Description

We are looking for two journalists (one in Carlow, one in Kildare) to join our experienced and dynamic newsroom. The ideal candidate will create content for our daily online and weekly print title and will have a proven track record in breaking exclusive stories and wide experience, including coverage of courts, crime, and council meetings and writing for the web.

Candidates will be expected to show imagination and flair in both writing and sourcing stories and will help drive The Nationalist's digital offering. They will work to meet deadlines across the daily online and weekly print platforms in line with the publication's style and values.

This is a hybrid role with the primary office location in Carlow.

  2. Wide experience including coverage of courts, crime, council meetings, and writing for the web
  3. Ability to meet digital and print deadlines while maintaining brand styles
