Company: Marsh Description: Marsh McLennan Dublin Innovation Centre are looking to hire a hands-on NodeJS Engineering Lead. As our Engineering Lead you will share your NodeJS expertise & experience with our distributed technology teams in Dublin & India. Who together, will develop and deliver the roadmap to replace / re-write our custom apps, largely built using .NET to Node.JS, continuing to delight our users. You will also help shape the next stage development, technical direction & Global rollout of MShare, our strategic document management platform. MShare is currently live in over 46 countries, with over 18000 users, and with around 35 integrating applications. MShare uses SharePoint Online as the underlying document repository, with significant and complex custom-built apps and integration components deployed in front of SharePoint to provide the specific capabilities required by the Marsh business, including straight through integration from transactional systems, and AI / LLM powered natural language search. As our Engineering Lead, you will leverage SharePoint best practices and new features. What can you expect: The opportunity to lead and shape this strategic technology capability. The chance to be at the forefront of further deployments of strategic Marsh applications to the cloud To play a leading role in the rebuild of custom-built apps To share your expertise with our Dublin & Global teams What you need to have: Significant Node.js experience Experience in building and leading distributed technology teams working on highly complex technical problems, and highly available globally deployed business critical systems. JavaScript & Kubernetes experience Experience with AWS Experience of modern application architectures, and in development environments and cultures focused on achieving a very high degree of re-use. What makes you stand out: Talent in SharePoint and or SharePoint integration. Solid background of .NET development Experience in building and leading teams to deliver world class technology platforms Highly developed communication skills to C-suite level & with on-the ground engineers and development teams Experience with MongoDB Your ability to simplify complexity. We will count on you to: Lead distributed teams of skilled and experienced engineers to build, enhance and maintain this business-critical app. Set the technical direction and roadmap for these applications partner with other IT and business stakeholders to understand the capabilities required, and then work with the development teams to design and implement appropriate solutions Act as a recognised subject matter expert on these apps and the problem domain Provide thought leadership around how technology can be deployed in new and innovative ways to provide a source of competitive advantage to Marsh Be a hands-on leader manage coach, develop and support team members in problem solving and solution delivery. Lead by example, including getting into the code on a regular basis, conducting code reviews with your team, and demonstrate best practice coding. Make no mistake, this role will require you to be on the tools Ensure high levels of automation and quality in delivery drive the adoption of a DevOps culture and shift-left mindset amongst the teams Ensure a quality approach to leading the technology on a business-critical platform with a significant deployment footprint.
