NoSQL Database Administrator (DBA) - 6 Month Fixed-Term Contract Location: County Galway (3 Days Per Week On-Site) Salary: DOE We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled NoSQL Database Administrator (DBA) with a strong background in Google Cloud Platform (GCP) to join our client based in Galway. You will be responsible for the installation, configuration, maintenance, and performance optimization of NoSQL databases, ensuring their reliability, security, and scalability. Key Responsibilities: Database Management: Install, configure, and manage NoSQL databases (e.g., MongoDB, Cassandra, Couchbase, DynamoDB) on Google Cloud Platform. Ensure high availability and performance of NoSQL databases through effective monitoring, tuning, and optimization. Implement and manage database backup, recovery, and disaster recovery plans. Performance Optimization: Analyse and optimize database performance, identifying and resolving bottlenecks. Perform capacity planning and scaling of NoSQL databases to meet the growing needs of the business. Conduct regular performance tuning and query optimization. Security and Compliance: Implement database security measures, including encryption, access controls, and vulnerability assessments. Ensure databases comply with relevant data protection regulations and industry standards. Conduct regular security audits and risk assessments. Automation and Scripting: Develop and maintain scripts and automation tools for database administration tasks. Implement infrastructure as code (IaC) for database provisioning and management using tools like Terraform, Ansible, or similar. Collaboration and Support: Work closely with application developers to design and optimize database schemas and queries. Provide support for database-related issues and troubleshoot performance and operational problems. Collaborate with other IT teams to ensure seamless integration of database solutions with other systems. Documentation and Reporting: Maintain comprehensive documentation of database configurations, procedures, and best practices. Generate regular reports on database performance, capacity, and health status.Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. Minimum of 5 years of experience as a NoSQL DBA. Proven experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and its database services. Strong knowledge of NoSQL databases such as MongoDB, Cassandra, Couchbase, and DynamoDB. Proficiency in database scripting languages such as Python, Bash, or PowerShell. Experience with database performance tuning, optimization, and troubleshooting. Knowledge of database security best practices and compliance requirements. Familiarity with infrastructure as code (IaC) tools like Terraform and Ansible. Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail. Strong communication and teamwork skills.
