Permanent Full-timeOccupational Therapist Healthcare Direct Heathcare Direct Healthcare Direct employs 66 HSCPs that include Chartered Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy, Speech & Language Therapy and Dietetics. Healthcare Direct provides multidisciplinary interventions to over 130 Nursing Homes and a full programme to support the orthopaedic service in two private hospital groups. Healthcare direct is a key enabler of integrated post-acute rehabilitation, offering bespoke therapy interventions to a broad range of patients.The provision of post-acute assessment, case management, rehabilitation and reablement will be led by HCD therapists under the governance structures established by Mowlam Healthcare in partnership with the HSE and other providers. Background to post Healthcare Direct is strategically developing integrated, age friendly rehabilitation capacity in post-acute rehabilitation and home care, building on its expertise and track record as Irelands biggest private provider of long-term residential care. This vision is in keeping with the move towards an AFHS and the HSE strategy to address give priority to urgent and emergency care for older adults. This service will reflect the standards and principles underpinning rehabilitation as set out by the World Health Organization (WHO 2023), HSE national clinical programmes and contemporary evidence on rehabilitation (EU 2019). This will integrate with existing Enhanced Community Care developments (Community Health Networks, Community Specialist Teams, Older People and Chronic Disease) and age friendly pathways under development in acute hospitals. It is proposed that this mixed economy approach will reflect the positive lessons from the EU Observatory (2024) which highlights the benefits to the population when public and private capacity is combined. Key functions Healthcare Direct are currently looking to employ a Full-Time Occupational Therapist to join our team. You will work in elderly care centres and patient step-down facilities. You will work in a fully supported environment lead by our Clinical Management Team and be given the opportunity to work autonomously in the private healthcare sector. The successful candidate will have the following key responsibilities: Deliver a comprehensive Occupational Therapy service to Adults and Older Adults consisting of physical, sensory and cognitive assessment and intervention. Devise and carry out appropriate assessments e.g., seating, hoist & slings, functional and meaningful activities of daily living. Assist individuals in becoming independent following physical, social, emotional and mental-health difficulties. Work with other Healthcare Professionals such as Nurses, Social Worker, Speech & Language Therapists, Physiotherapists etc. Liaise with patients families and other relevant agencies. Active engagement in Continuing Professional Development (CPD) e.g., Staff Training Days. Participate in regular service review meetings with our clients. Prerequisites: Experience in providing Occupational Therapy intervention to the adult population. Experience in rehabilitation is a bonus. Degree qualified. CORU registration is a must.
