BROTHERS OF CHARITY SERVICES IRELAND SOUTHERN REGION The Brothers of Charity Services Ireland is a major voluntary organisation, which provides age related residential, educational and day services for adults with intellectual disabilities, autism and communication disorders throughout the Cork area. Children and young adults across Cork and Kerry with Intellectual, Physical, Sensory disability, Autism and children at risk of or query developmental delay; where their needs require the support of an interdisciplinary team. . Applications are invited for the following post Senior Occupational Therapist Ref: 43/2024 Permanent Full-time (35 hours per week) Location: Special School Pilot in Carrigaline & Children Disability Network Team 13 Carrigaline / Kinsale / Bandon, Co. This will include children with Intellectual, Physical, Sensory disability, Autism and children at risk of or query developmental delay; where their needs require the support of an interdisciplinary team. These teams are under the national model of service provision Progressing Disability Services for Children and Young People lead by the HSE. The successful candidate will be employed by the Brothers of Charity Services Ireland. This post also will be part of the Special School Pilot relating to In-School OT and SLT supports, and therefore this part of the post will be based in Carrigaline. This post is in Network 13: Carrigaline/Kinsale/Bandon Childrens Disability Network Team (CKB CDNT), based in Carrigaline and Bandon. Assessment, diagnostic and therapeutic interventions are provided in the context of an interdisciplinary team. The CDNT aims to maximise the child/ young adults full potential and works within the context of the family and community, empowering and supporting parents/care givers and family members. The Candidate: 1. Statutory Registration, Professional Qualification, Experience etc. Each candidate for the appointment must possess the following: Be registered, or be eligible for registration, on the Occupational Therapists Register maintained by the Occupational Therapists Registration Board at CORU. Candidates must maintain annual registration on the Occupational Therapists Register maintained by the Occupational Therapists Registration Board at CORU and must confirm annual registration to the Brothers of Charity Services Ireland Southern Region by way of the annual Patient Safety Assurance Certificate (PSAC). 2. Annual registration On appointment, practitioners must maintain annual registration on Occupational Therapist Register maintained by the Occupational Therapists Registration Board at CORU. AND Practitioners must confirm annual registration with CORU to the Brothers of Charity Services Ireland Southern Region by way of annual Safety Assurance Certificate 3. Health Candidates for and any person holding the office must be fully competent and capable of undertaking the duties attached to the office and be in a state of health such as would indicate a reasonable prospect of ability to render regular and efficient service. 4. Age The Public Service Superannuation (Age of Retirement) Act, 2018* set 70 years as the compulsory retirement age for public servants. 5. Character Candidates for and any person holding the office must be of good character. 6. Experience Minimum of three years full time (or an aggregate of three years) post qualification clinical experience. Minimum of two years full time (or an aggregate of two years) experience of working with children & young adults 0-18 years is essential. This ideally would include severe and profound intellectual disabilities, physical disabilities, and autism. Experience of working in partnership with families is essential. Ability to work as part of an inter-disciplinary team and other agencies is essential. Experience of developing and coordinating individual family service plans (IFSPs) or equivalent (e.g., IEPs) in line with relevant policies and procedures would be beneficial. Demonstrate a command of the English language so as to effectively carry out the duties and responsibilities of the role Candidates must possess the requisite clinical and administrative capabilities to fulfil the functions of the role. 7. Driving License: Have a full driving license which qualifies you to drive on Irish Roads with own means of transport is essential Salary Scale: €62,038 - €73,048 per annum (1/10/24 Consolidated Scales) Reporting to: Childrens Disability Network Manager. The Head of Discipline will provide clinical supervision.
