Job Description AtkinsRéalis is one of the world’s leading providers of engineering professional consulting and support services with offices across Ireland. We are looking for an Electrical Engineer / Onshore Substation Engineer with relevant experience to join our team immediately in the Dublin, Cork, Galway, and Dundalk offices. Typical OSW Activities The successful applicant will be expected to provide technical expertise into proposals and projects and to represent the company in client meetings as appropriate. Typical OSW activities include: Feasibility Studies Optioneering Studies Specification Preparation Technical Bid Review Design Assurance Design Review Site and FAT Visits OEM Support Services Due Diligence Technical Expert Services Some original design may also be involved. You will liaise with other teams, both internal and external to AtkinsRéalis’ T&D practice, including, but not limited to, the HVDC, Civils, Cable, and P&C teams. You shall work closely with these teams to offer our clients a full end-to-end service. Qualifications Professionally qualified in electrical engineering, power engineering, or equivalent subject (degree and/or master's level). Chartered (CEng) or working towards gaining Chartership with a relevant institution. Demonstrated significant knowledge of OSW technology and projects along with a grounding in general power systems engineering. Ability to coordinate across project disciplines, external sub-contractors, and remote offices to identify and mitigate technical risks, ensuring all statutory and regulatory requirements are met. Significant relevant experience in OSW in an engineering consultancy, typically as Site Engineer or Engineering Supervisor. Understanding of Systems Engineering principles and requirements management. Familiarity with functional characteristics of power systems and interactions between OSW installations and the Ireland electricity grid. Ability to demonstrate an understanding of OSW scheme design, project lifecycle, and practical considerations associated with OSW projects. Strong communication skills, capable of understanding and conveying customer requirements and leading technical discussions with clients. Able to work to deadlines under pressure while maintaining safety, quality, and engineering integrity of solutions. Strong written and verbal communication skills; experienced in creating and presenting technical reports and responding to clients’ technical questions. Responsibilities Working with experienced staff, the candidate will: Complete physical engineering designs and generate professional plans, specifications, technical calculations, exhibits, and reports. Knowledge and understanding of Substation Physical Engineering design of utility and renewable substations. Design to current codes and standards (Eirgrid, ESB, NG, IEC, IEEE). Perform and execute technical calculations with supervision. Collaborate with other disciplines and the project engineering team for structural and civil design requirements. Respect and enforce policies and procedures in the preparation of drawings. Realize the different stages of the project within the timeframes and budgets. Provide guidance for project schedules and allotted hours for project tasks. #J-18808-Ljbffr
