Job Description

Role: Business Development Manager Contract Type: Permanent Full Time Reporting To: Director of Member Services Role Purpose: This is a fantastic opportunity for a self-motivated person with proven sales experience within a target driven B2B environment to develop strategies to attract businesses to join a vibrant Chamber and to create business opportunities for both Cork Chamber and its members to thrive. The role of Business Development Manager is to identify and generate new revenue for the chamber through the recruitment of new members, focused membership engagement and promotion of member services ensuring that businesses are positioned to succeed. TheBusiness Development Managerwill be responsible to achieve overall targets which are set annually across membership, advertising and other value add revenue lines while building key relationships with the wider Chamber team, Chamber members, the Membership Committee and other stakeholders. Key Activities Drive Membership Growth Proactively engage with businesses to generate new members in all categories of membership and initiate targeted new member campaigns in order to reach annual targets. Create and manage an active prospect list from multiple sources to secure new members. Continually develop benefit propositions for each sector and category of membership that articulates value based on member needs. In collaboration with the Membership Engagement Executive, develop and execute new member campaigns on an ongoing basis. Working closely with the Membership Engagement Executive, support the retention/engagement & account management processes to achieve overall membership budget annually. Build strong relationships with members, manage the Membership Committee and support the Cork Chamber Ambassador programme. Utilise and support strategic partnerships to foster collaborations between members creating mutually beneficial opportunities. Work closely with full Chamber team to achieve synergies and provide feedback for strategies and improved processes across activities Ensure database is up-to-date with new member information and actively report on membership engagement. Revenue Generation Together with the Director of Member Services, develop strategies and implement annual plans to lead to revenue generating activities and successful achievement of goals. Assist members to recognise marketing and branding opportunities to enhance their visibility and engagement through leveraging Cork Chambers membership base, activities, events and communication channels. Generate revenue through sponsorship and promotional opportunities which mutually benefit both the member and Cork Chamber and potential partnerships with other organisations. Help manage and support budgetary responsibilities and targets for wider member services department ensuring membership value at the core. Identify and develop business development initiatives through collaboration with full team to support members growth and connections based on evolving needs and demand. Other Attend Chamber events and to represent Cork Chamber at external events as requested, which may fall outside office hours, to support Chamber and membership objectives. Assist with the planning and delivery of membership specific events. Support the wider Chamber team across all activities where necessary. Additional duties as assigned by the Director of Member Services and/or CEO Person Specification Qualifications: Essential Third Level qualification in business related field OR 5 years+ of sales experience Desirable Marketing degree/major/MBA Functional Knowledge & Experience Essential Minimum 4-5yrs previous B2B sales experience Demonstrated successful business development track record. Proven ability in achieving sales targets, objectives and goals. Strong commercial knowledge. Desirable Understanding and knowledge of membership-based organisations Skills Essential Ability to work under pressure Self-motivation with drive, enthusiasm and commitment to achieve. Strong communication and influencing skills Excellent interpersonal skills paramount Flexibility and strong time management skills.
