Abbott Ireland Nutrition Division Cootehill Cavan

Established in 1975, Abbott Nutrition in Ireland is the largest powder manufacturing facility to produce infant formulae within the Abbott Corporation worldwide. We source quality milk from approximately 1,000 dairy farms in Ireland and Northern Ireland, processing 500,000 litres per day.

Primary Function / Goals / Objectives

As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for managing risk to the achievement of our organization's strategic objectives in the areas of environmental health and safety, asset capability, quality, and production.

  • Develop and maintain the Engineering Department's Enterprise Excellence initiatives, including the 6S Program, Gemba Program, and Shingo methodology.
  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement across the Engineering Department.
  • Act as a change agent, implementing lean initiatives aligned with business strategies.
  • Manage departmental and site-specific KPIs and reporting, including maintaining visual boards.
  • Lead problem-solving activities, utilizing various improvement tools and training activities.
  • Deploy lean six sigma and other CI tools and techniques to drive continuous improvement.
  • Build divisional/site awareness and engagement of Operational Excellence principles and methodologies through effective communication, education, and training.
  • Maintain visual boards to provide clear and transparent linkage of performance, continuous improvement activity, and the Site Strategy Map.
  • Track and report project status efficiently to all relevant internal and external stakeholders.

Education and Experience

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced professional with a Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing, Engineering, or Science. A minimum of 3 years of experience working in a manufacturing, engineering, or science environment is required. Knowledge of an Automated Manufacturing Environment and a good understanding of FMCG are essential.
