Job Description

Senior Oracle Developer Location: Athlone (Hybrid - 3 days in the office) Contract Type: 12 months (Extendable) - Full-time, Monday – Friday, 9am – 6pm (excluding public holidays) Start Date: 01/12/2024 Role Overview: A Senior Oracle Developer is sought to support critical IT services for the State Examinations. You will work alongside internal IT staff under the direction of the Project Owner, with responsibilities focused on Oracle applications hosted internally. The data managed is essential for the execution of the State Examinations, and you will be responsible for the ongoing development, enhancement, and maintenance of these systems. Key Responsibilities: Develop, manage, and enhance existing Oracle-based IT programs and applications. Design and implement databases, package code, and stored procedures to support IT systems. Troubleshoot and resolve database issues, including tuning and optimizing performance. Provide business units with technical support for deployed systems. Assist in the deployment of software into UAT environments and ensure the successful release into production systems. Offer expertise in PL/SQL and Oracle Forms/Reports, advising developers on best practices. Contribute to Oracle upgrade and migration projects. Perform regular testing of business solutions before release and ensure successful implementation. Mentor and facilitate skills transfer to internal staff. Generate customized reports based on business requirements. Identify potential improvements and recommend system enhancements. Essential Qualifications & Skills: Advanced PL/SQL Expertise: 7+ years of experience with a strong emphasis on advanced PL/SQL techniques. Oracle Development Toolset: 7+ years of experience using the Oracle Development Toolset. Oracle Forms & Reports: 7+ years of experience creating and modifying forms and reports, managing form server configuration files, and installing forms. SQL & PL/SQL Development: Demonstrated proficiency in SQL and PL/SQL development. AIX & Windows OS Knowledge: Experience working with both AIX and Windows Operating Systems. Skills Transfer & Mentorship: Proven experience in transferring knowledge related to Oracle Forms, Reports, and PL/SQL to internal teams. Key Deliverables: Assist with the database design and ongoing maintenance of package code/stored procedures. Resolve database issues and ensure efficient system operation. Develop customized reports tailored to specific business needs. Ensure smooth deployment of software updates and support production environments. Mentor internal IT staff and facilitate knowledge transfer in key areas. Provide expert support in Oracle Upgrade and Migration projects. Complete tasks related to different phases of the development lifecycle within the agreed scope and timeframe. Required Experience: A minimum of 7 years' experience in Oracle development roles at a senior level. Demonstrated experience with Oracle Forms/Reports and PL/SQL development. Proven ability to troubleshoot complex database problems and provide effective solutions. Experience working within structured project lifecycles, including Oracle system upgrades and migrations. Desirable Skills: Familiarity with SQL Developer. Demonstrated ability to collaborate with other developers and business units to ensure the optimal performance of systems.
