Purpose of the Role: This role sits in the Beer Brand Change &Innovation team, reporting to the Head of Brand Change and Innovation, within beer category. Leadership Responsibilities Critical to the success of this role is solid theoretical knowledge of primary package design, manufacturing processes and procedures. In addition to their strong technical depth, successful candidates will also need to excel in multi-functional team collaboration. They will need to review data with internal and external partners and be able to cut through ambiguity, drive decisions and seek clarity. They will need strong communication, interpersonal, influencing, relationship-building and time management skills. Key accountabilities: The successful candidate will use their detailed knowledge of (Glass, PET & Can; Plastic & Composite Closures, Labels, Corrugate & Paper Board) packaging design to ask critical design questions in the development of new to world specification templates. This person will need to work closely with Diageo Beer and Africa manufacturing sites to understand packaging quality challenges and implications of changes to existing specifications. The successful candidate will ensure that specifications are reviewed and signed off internally and externally to avoid any changes or disruptions to existing materials. This person will build an understanding of the packaging commercialization process and development of component specifications, working closely with the commercialization team to create and embed a process for specification creation and management of brand change and innovation projects. Qualifications and Experience Relevant Qualification in Packaging, Engineering or related technical field desired Extensive years direct packaging experience with specific packaging component experience in one of the following categories. (Glass, PET & Can; Plastic & Composite Closures, Labels, Corrugate & Paper Board) Has a developed understanding of packaging supplier's manufacturing capabilities and quality control parameters.
