Job Title: Panel of Energy Auditors

Type of Contract: Permanent Contract subject to a 6-month probation period

Salary: €40-45k plus generous pension scheme, flexible working option, paid travel expenses and other benefits

Location: West / North West of Ireland along with project sites across the island of Ireland

We are seeking to put together a panel of Energy Auditors to visually inspect buildings and related systems including mechanical, electrical, and process systems to determine energy consumption in each area or system.

The Role:

An exciting opportunity to work in a high calibre Energy Consulting team which delivers Energy Master Plans and Energy Audits across Ireland. The successful candidate(s) will report to the Energy Bureau Manager and work within a very experienced and dynamic team preparing clients for investment in energy efficiency and renewable energy projects. Some experience of energy auditing is required and ongoing energy audit training and mentoring by an industry-leading team will be provided for the successful candidate.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver accurate and impartial advice on energy efficiency, renewable energy, and transport energy to a Public Sector body.
  • Maintain an up to date working knowledge of sustainable energy matters and keeping the relevant information, literature, and documentation available for review.
  • Develop Registers of opportunities for Energy and carbon emissions reduction initiatives and works.
  • Implement strategies to reduce Energy Usage and Carbon Emissions through behavioural awareness programs and liaising with existing Energy Management Teams.
  • Complete administrative duties as required.
  • Identify energy efficiency projects for implementation.
  • Provide project development support ensuring compliance with all legislative obligations.
  • Conduct thorough on-site energy audits of buildings and facilities, evaluating energy systems, equipment, and processes.
  • Collect and analyse data related to energy consumption, including utility bills, energy usage logs, and equipment specifications.
  • Use specialized tools and equipment to measure and evaluate energy performance, including infrared cameras, data loggers, and energy meters.
  • Identify areas of energy waste, such as inefficient lighting, HVAC systems, insulation, and appliances.
  • Develop and recommend energy-saving strategies and measures, including renewable energy options, behavioural changes and equipment upgrades.
  • Prepare detailed reports, presenting energy audit findings, recommendations, and estimated cost savings to clients.

Candidate Profile

Essential:

  • Level 8 qualification in a technical discipline such as Engineering, Science, or Construction.
  • Minimum 2 years' experience in technical task management in a professional setting.
  • Minimum 1 year's experience in energy auditing.
  • Good technical analysis skills and solution-focused approach.
  • Strong written and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to work well in a team and independently when required.
  • Proficiency in MS Office programmes including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint.
  • Full clean driving licence and car.
  • An interest in energy efficiency and renewable energy.

Desirable:

  • Understanding of the commercial aspects of retrofit for non-domestic properties including financial supports available.
  • Certified Energy Manager (CEM) and/or Certified Energy Auditor (CEA) qualification.
  • Qualified Domestic or Non Domestic BER assessor.
  • Understanding of the fabric of commercial, public, and private buildings.
  • Experience with drawing packages such as CAD & GIS.

The position is based in West / North West of Ireland but travel may be required to sites across Ireland. Working from the Sligo office will be required during training and probation, after which the candidate may work remotely with regular line manager meetings in person. The company operates a generous pension scheme.
