Job Description
Seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented individual to provide administrative support to the General Counsel and team in a fast-paced legal environment.
The Medical Council is a regulatory body responsible for protecting the public by ensuring high standards of medical education and training, as well as maintaining a register of medical practitioners.
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Providing administrative support to the General Counsel and team, including record-keeping, file management, and drafting agendas for meetings.
- Conducting research, drafting correspondence, and preparing and managing documents and files.
- Dealing with stakeholders, including external legal services providers, and maintaining positive relationships.
- Implementing and managing fee management processes and procedures, including tracking external legal spend and ensuring compliance with internal procurement policies.
- Liaising with other departments on key cross-functional legislation-related projects and providing assistance in relation to these.
- Managing litigation files, including personal injuries, employment litigation, and judicial reviews, and maintaining a litigation tracker of such proceedings and claims.
- Assisting with the generation of management/activity reports, reports for the CEO, business plans, process mapping, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Organizing and archiving documents related to completed and ongoing matters.
- Engaging with the risk framework of the Medical Council.
The ideal candidate will have:
- A relevant third-level qualification and/or relevant experience in a similar role.
- Experience in the use of appropriate technology, case management systems, and other IT applications, specifically Excel, PowerPoint, and Microsoft Word.
- Excellent communication skills and sound organizational abilities.
- Desirable criteria include previous experience as a Paralegal or Office Administrator/Administrative Assistant, ability to multi-task, and a proven track record of working effectively as part of a team.
The position is a full-time permanent appointment with a starting salary of €36,044, which is the first point of the Executive Officer Pay Scale. The salary will be subject to annual increments based on satisfactory performance.
