Job Description

Job Summary: Responsible for overseeing the acquisition of all necessary permits, licenses, and consent for the major projects, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations. The role involves liaising with regulatory bodies, managing stakeholder relationships, and mitigating risks related to permits. Preparing and submitting permit applications, tracking progress and ensuring that all legal, environmental and planning requirements are met. Strong project management, communication and regulatory knowledge are essential. Key Responsibilities: Take responsibility for the management of the following permits and consents, including preparation and mgmt. of relevant stakeholders and suppliers, (supported by engineering team) o Planning permissions o Grid applications o CRU licences Build and maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders, consultants, contractors, and external regulatory agencies. Prepare, submit, and track all permit applications and associated documentation, ensuring that all required reports and studies are completed on time. (environmental impact etc) Research and become familiar with industrial site licences (example COMAH, EPA, EU ETS, etc) and the constraints and interactions of same with energy projects and energy projects consents. Support and assistance with land sourcing, liaising with land agents, assessing, and identifying lands for renewable energy development, supporting commercial team with landowner negotiations. Support the engineering and commercial teams with grant and subsidy applications for energy projects, including project mgmt. of same Permitting and Regulatory Compliance: Develop and manage a comprehensive permitting strategy for projects, ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations, including environmental, planning and safety regulations. Keeping up to date with changes in regulations, laws or legislations pertaining to permitting and consents required for company. projects. Serve as the main point of contact for all permitting and compliance issues. Risk Management identify potential risks related to permitting, including delays, noncompliance, or legal challenges. Work with the legal team to manage any disputes or compliance issues. Cross-Functional collaboration collaborate with project management, environmental and engineering teams to integrate permitting requirements into project planning and execution. Relevant Experience: Project Management strong ability to manage complex, multi-phase projects. Stakeholder Engagement excellent interpersonal and negotiation skills. Knowledge of Regulatory Environment relevant permitting laws and regulations, including environmental regulations in the jurisdictions of Ireland and Northern Ireland. Strong skills in Microsoft Office applications Excellent communication, negotiation, problem solving and decision-making skills. Self-starter and self-motivated. Ability to work as part of a team and to manage workload and prioritise. A keen desire to help deliver decarbonisation and the renewable energy transition. Qualifications: Qualification Bachelors degree or equivalent experience. 5-10 years experience in a permitting or regulatory compliance role, ideally within construction, energy, infrastructure. Proven track record of managing complex permitting processes from start to completion. Experience working with local, regional, and national regulatory bodies. Knowledge of environmental impact assessments and related studies is highly desirable Skills: permit consent renewable energy
