Job Description

Develop onshore renewable energy projects, manage consultants, and lead planning consents for a global leader in renewable energy.

As a key member of the Project Development team, you will be responsible for managing the development of onshore renewable projects from any stage to get them to a ready-to-build state. You will work closely with colleagues and other technical staff to scope, prepare, review, and manage consultants to submit detailed planning and environmental assessment reports. You will also work within a multidisciplinary team to produce and disseminate detailed reports assessing the commercial feasibility of sites for development.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage consultants to submit detailed planning and environmental assessment reports, including Planning applications, Environmental Impact Assessment Reports, Appropriate Assessments, and Planning Compliance Submissions to Local Authorities.
  • Work within a multidisciplinary team to produce and disseminate detailed reports assessing the commercial feasibility of sites for development, including landcover and topographical studies, financial models, environmental constraints assessments, and more.
  • Assist in ensuring that all statutory and other external and internal approvals are obtained for ongoing projects within the Development and Operations divisions.
  • Manage and report on all project risks, ensuring leadership is kept fully informed of any significant developments.
  • Develop and manage project expenditure and budgeting, assisting in the preparation of business cases for investment expenditure and presenting to senior management for investment approval.
  • Liaise with external stakeholders, including planning authorities, community relations, statutory consultees, and landowners.

Requirements:

  • Hold a degree in engineering, sciences, planning, or similar.
  • Be an experienced renewable energy professional with a demonstrable track record of successfully managing the development of multiple projects, with a focus on pre-consent stage.
  • Have proven experience of management and coordination of Environmental Impact Assessment Reports (EIAR).
  • Possess in-depth knowledge of Irish planning regulations and policies, as well as a solid understanding of the concerns of key decision-makers and policymakers.
  • Have an understanding of what makes a consented renewable energy project commercially viable.
  • Have excellent written and verbal communication skills as well as experience with Microsoft Office and GIS applications.
