Job Description

**Postdoctoral Research Fellow in Bioinformatics** A postdoctoral researcher is sought to join the Vista Milk research centre, working on the analysis of shotgun metagenomic data and integration of multi-omic datasets. **Job Description** We are seeking an enthusiastic and ambitious postdoctoral fellow to join our team at the Teagasc Food Research Centre. The successful candidate will have experience in the analysis of shotgun microbiome data from various environments, including soil, gut, and rumen, as well as the generation of outputs from that data. The candidate will also be responsible for benchmarking other omic tools, including metabolomics and proteomics, and developing tools for multi-omic dataset integration. **Key Responsibilities** * Analyze shotgun metagenomic data * Integrate multi-omic datasets * Liaise with other partners from Vista Milk * Stay up-to-date with the latest developments in bioinformatics and related fields * Engage in education and public engagement activities **Additional Responsibilities** * Interpret research findings and prepare scientific and popular press publications * Disseminate research findings to various audiences * Assist Teagasc in meeting the commitments of the Quality Customer Service Charter and Action Plan * Comply with all relevant Teagasc policies and procedures * Collaborate with team members and PhD students to build research knowledge and skills **Requirements** * PhD in Bioinformatics, Molecular Biology, Microbiology, or a related field * Relevant research experience not exceeding 3 years post-PhD * Demonstrated research and technical expertise in analysis of shotgun sequence data and combination of multi-omic datasets * Excellent project management, analytical, report writing, and data analysis skills * Ability to collaborate with team members and PhD students to guide professional development * Commitment to teamwork and collaboration with colleagues * Excellent communication skills (oral, written, presentation) with an ability to enable effective knowledge and technology transfer **Desirable** * Experience in setting own research agenda * Evidence of teamwork and collaboration with relevant partners
