Power Generation Engineer
Design and deliver innovative energy solutions for AWS data centers, leveraging expertise in HV/MV power systems and electrical power generation infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities:
- Capture requirements and develop well-defined specifications and solutions.
- Design and construct utility scale generation plants, energy storage systems, and associated substations.
- Develop design proposals meeting quality and budget requirements.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to create construction documents.
- Participate in site selection reviews and work with local utilities and developers.
- Define interconnection requirements and work with internal teams to understand user/customer needs.
- Specify electrical equipment with regional vendors and manufacturers.
- Ensure compliance with IEEE/ANSI, UL, IEC, EU requirements and building codes.
- Review and approve equipment submittals, including test and commissioning requirements.
- Define project scope and provide technical support for information requests.
- Work with commissioning teams to prepare scripts and test electrical systems.
- Communicate effectively with people from diverse technical backgrounds.
- Produce clear documentation, including design specifications and test scripts.
- Understand and safeguard implementation of the Global Electrical and Mechanical Basis of Design.
- Travel to sites for reviews and work with onsite field engineers.
- Project management skills to oversee construction, maintenance, and upgrade projects.
- Familiarity with control systems, SCADA, and power plant automation technologies.
- Ability to work on concurrent projects in multiple geographical regions.

Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in engineering.
- 5+ years of experience with design and operation of utility scale power plants.
- Understanding of US ANSI, UL, NERC, FERC, NESC, and European EN & IEC standards.
- Knowledge of building codes and regulations, including Life Safety, IBC, NFPA, NEC, and OSHA.
- Knowledge of Carbon Neutrality and Global Net-Zero Carbon Objectives.
- Knowledge of Greenhouse Gas and Global Air Quality Emissions Reduction techniques.
- Technical expertise in relay protection schemes, HV & MV circuit breakers, and electrical switchgear.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's degree or higher in electrical engineering.
- 7+ years of relevant design experience deploying utility scale power plants.
- Direct experience with design, construction, operation, and maintenance of generation plants.
- Understanding of mechanical equipment and system design.
- Experience with fast track design/build projects and multiple significant upgrade projects.
- Experience with Hyperscale Distributed Energy Projects, including Battery Energy Storage and Long Duration Energy Storage.
