Job Description

Principal DevOps Engineer Ireland/UK Salary: 100K+ EUR Permanent, full-time We are seeking an experienced and driven Principal DevOps Engineer to lead and innovate our clients infrastructure automation, CI/CD pipelines, and cloud-based systems. In this role, you will work closely with development, operations, and security teams to design, build, and maintain scalable, efficient, and secure infrastructure solutions that support our product lifecycle. Key Responsibilities: Lead the design, development, and maintenance of cloud infrastructure using Terraform and other Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools. Develop and manage configuration management processes using Ansible for deployment automation. Oversee and improve build and deployment pipelines with tools like Maven/Gradle, ensuring smooth CI/CD integration. Implement, configure, and manage containerized environments using Docker for microservices and scalable applications. Manage and maintain automation tools such as Rundeck for workflow orchestration. Write efficient automation scripts in Python to streamline manual operations and ensure infrastructure reliability. Utilize Packer for automating the creation of machine images across various platforms. Champion best practices for cloud deployments (AWS, Azure, GCP) and help evolve our cloud strategy. Implement monitoring and logging tools, leveraging Splunk for data analysis and system diagnostics. Lead efforts in infrastructure optimization, including virtualization technologies like VMware, KVM, or Hyper-V. Drive Agile/DevOps culture within the team by promoting automation, collaboration, and continuous improvement. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless application deployments, enhanced security, and performance optimization. Qualifications: 8+ years of experience in DevOps, Site Reliability Engineering (SRE), or a related field. Strong hands-on experience with Terraform and Ansible in production environments. Proficiency with Maven/Gradle for managing build processes and CI/CD pipelines. Extensive experience with Docker, including creating, managing, and scaling containerized applications. Experience with Rundeck or similar workflow automation tools. Advanced Python scripting skills for automation, configuration, and troubleshooting. Experience with Packer for image creation in cloud and virtualized environments. Expertise in deploying, managing, and optimizing applications in cloud environments (AWS, Azure, GCP). Solid understanding of virtualization technologies like VMware, KVM, or Hyper-V. Proficient in Agile methodologies with a focus on DevOps principles. Familiarity with Splunk or similar logging and monitoring tools for performance optimization. Strong leadership and communication skills with experience mentoring and guiding junior engineers.
