Principal Digital Design Engineer

Summary: Lead complex IP development, verification, and optimization for high-tech markets, collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver industry-leading solutions.

The Cadence Silicon Solutions Group develops leading-edge Intellectual Property (IP) for various high-tech markets. Our IP solutions enable customers to tackle IP-to-SoC development in a system context, allowing them to focus on product differentiation and reduce time to volume.

The Principal Design Engineer will be based in Cork, as part of an experienced Controller IP Team with established development sites in Europe, US, and India.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Technical leadership of complex IP development, including Ethernet, Storage, PCIe/CXL, and MIPI.
  • Develop comprehensive verification plans and testbenches to rigorously validate functionality and performance.
  • Conduct power and timing analysis to optimize chip power consumption, performance, and timing closure, collaborating with physical design and implementation teams.
  • Hands-on leadership of RTL, testbenches, and FPGA platforms development.
  • Plan activities and milestones for the Digital Controller Development teams.
  • Lead cross-functional technical meetings with Analog and Software counterparts.
  • Support customer meetings and participate in Technical Review Meetings and Checklist Reviews.
  • Represent Cadence in industry standards bodies and conferences.

Requirements:

  • Degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Microelectronics, or a related discipline.
  • 10+ years' experience in microelectronics/EDA industry.
  • Experience with Verilog RTL Design, Metric Driven Verification (MDV), and Front-end design tools.
  • Experience with SoC Architecture and Development, Technical Team leadership, and excellent communication skills.

Additional Skills:

  • Experience with AMBA protocols, Quality processes, and Front-end design tools.
