**Lead Heart Valve Implant Engineer** A structural heart startup in Galway, Ireland, seeks a lead engineer to develop a breakthrough heart valve replacement device. **Job Description:** We are seeking a highly skilled engineer to lead the development of a next-generation aortic valve replacement device. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in material development, nitinol, and valve interface requirements. Key responsibilities include: * Developing detailed component and subsystem drawings/designs using Solid Works * Leading and mentoring postdoctoral research candidates in implant development activities * Conducting feasibility studies to evaluate valve designs, materials, and impact on deployment techniques * Developing effective bench test methods and conducting hands-on testing * Maintaining high standards of documentation and generating technical reports * Collaborating with delivery system development partners to optimize deployment of the next-generation valve implant * Contributing to cross-functional team risk management activities and project planning **Requirements:** * Bachelor of Engineering (Mechanical/Biomedical/Polymer) * Experience in stent design, polymer processing, and/or heart valves * 5+ years of medical device process development/R&D experience * Proficiency with Solid Works modelling and engineering drawings * Familiarity with application of FEA / CFD towards implant development * Direct Class III implant design experience * Understanding of regulatory requirements including ISO 5840, ISO 13485, and FDA regulation **Key Skills:** * Strong technical leadership capability * Ability to develop product-driven bench test methods * Experience with hands-on testing and builds * Familiarity with statistical tools such as Minitab * Ability to interpret results and generate detailed technical reports
