Principal Hydrogeologist

Seeking a highly skilled Principal Hydrogeologist to lead and coordinate field projects, oversee remediation works, and provide technical guidance to junior staff.

About the Role

As a Principal Hydrogeologist, you will be responsible for:

  • Coordinating and leading field projects, including groundwater sampling and drilling
  • Overseeing soil and groundwater remediation works, such as excavation and in-situ treatment
  • Ensuring Health & Safety is a core component of all stages of works
  • Supporting technical and digital aspects, including field electronic data capture and data management
  • Contributing to deliverables by evaluating data and writing technical reports
  • Undertaking Phase 1 Desk Studies, Phase 2 Site Investigations, and remediation design and verification
  • Maintaining knowledge of European regulatory guidance and risk assessment methodologies
  • Providing technical guidance and mentoring to junior staff
  • Project management and technical delivery of a wide variety of projects

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Qualification in a relevant engineering or science subject (e.g. geology or hydrogeology)
  • Ideal chartered status with IGI, Geol Soc, IEMA, CIWEM or equivalent
  • Experience working in the hydrogeology industry or as an environmental consultant
  • Understanding of the environmental and regulatory framework with respect to groundwater and land contamination
  • Excellent technical and numerical skills, with an emphasis on quality control and logical thinking
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
