Job Description

Overview PM Group is a leading International engineering, architecture, project and construction management firm. With a network of offices in Europe, Asia and the US and a multi-disciplined team of over 3,700 people, we deliver complex, capital projects in the life sciences, food and beverages, mission critical/ICT, advanced manufacturing, energy and environmental sectors. Due to our on-going success securing large-scale projects for 2023, we have a requirement for Principal Instrumentation Engineers to join our Instrumentation Department in Cork. To be successful and to enjoy the challenge of this position, the role will suit a Senior Engineer who has previously led large projects (TIC > €200MM) from concept to completion. This is a hybrid role, connected to the Cork office (either our Mahon or Fota). Responsibilities Leading an Instrumentation Team on various projects as part of a multidiscipline project team. Analysing complex engineering problems and offering effective solutions. Providing support to fee and capital budget proposals as required. Assembling and managing bid, approval, and construction issue Instrumentation packages in an efficient and lean manner. Mentoring Instrumentation engineering staff at junior and intermediate levels, as required. Checking other Instrumentation engineers work for accuracy and quality and undertake peer reviews. Extensive and independent contact with clients, vendor’s representatives and project field personnel. Attending and participating in client and PM Group meetings. Direct and/or participate in project site visits to monitor, review and sign-off Instrument installations. Qualifications Third Level Degree in Instrumentation Engineering (NFQ Level 8) or similar discipline. 10+ years of formal experience in industrial engineering design. Demonstrable advanced experience in the complete suite of Instrumentation engineering design services including (but not limited to): Instrument Index, I/O Lists/Allocation, Instrument Specifications/Data Sheets, Layouts, Cable Containment, Block Diagrams, System Architecture, ATEX / Hazardous Areas. Proficient in the use of Smart Plant Instrumentation (SPI) & digital project delivery is an advantage. Advanced knowledge of all applicable Instrumentation engineering codes, standards and acceptable industry practices. Commercially aware and have the ability to undertake value engineering activities and implement new technologies where they are implemented to provide cost effective solutions for our clients. Skilled in project execution, budget control, resource planning and change management. Strong verbal and written communication skills required with the ability to prepare written specifications and contract documents. Professional approach and demeanour.
