Job Description

Seeking experienced Principal Project Engineer to manage onsite construction, project integration, and client-facing activities for complex railway projects involving signalling technologies. The Principal Project Engineer leads onsite construction and project integration activities, supporting the integration of project design activities at one of our centres of excellence. The role has a client-facing dimension, supporting the Contractor's Engineering Manager to resolve technical issues and project management teams to achieve on-time delivery. Key Responsibilities: * Manage and undertake engineering activities in subcontract management, system definition, requirements capture, compliance management, design integration, construction integration, and CDM regulations * Implement the organisation's engineering management system at local project locations and multiple sites * Support the CEM with technical guidance, leadership, and site safety, monitoring project performance to maximize efficiencies and delivery * Coordinate design activities between Design Delivery Managers, ensuring project disputes and challenges are resolved consistently * Ensure suitable project plans are in place for efficient resource management, staff development, and succession planning * Develop project technical instructions to enable project methodology and installation activities * Perform technical inspections and take corrective action to resolve problems identified * Assist with engineering design details development based on project technical requirements * Mentor and train Project Engineers to support business sustainability Requirements: * Good communications skills * A1 audit skills * Engineering Manager (Lead Engineer) (6.8.110) plus module F(Project Engineer) or Project Engineer 1.2.230 IRSE licence * Experience in signalling design, installation, or testing with knowledge of railway construction methods and materials * Undertaking and supporting risk assessments * Organising and managing complex tasks Desirable: * CSM trained in project engineering safety management processes * MSc or BSc degree level education in an engineering discipline * Valid PTS (Personal Track Safety) Certificate * Corporate membership of the IRSE (Institute of Railway Signalling Engineers) with IEng or higher * Extensive experience of applying industry recognised standards * Knowledge of processes and procedures * Experience of business management * Operating within a single discipline project environment
